For me it's a toss up between ginger snaps (my homemade ones, naturally) and speculoos cookies. Ginger is my favorite spice by a mile and I found a great recipe for snaps that incorporates three different kinds of ginger a few years ago that I am in love with. I was introduced to speculoos cookies last year courtesy of Aldi, my go-to grocery store. It's a miracle I didn't go through the first bag I bought that same day.

@TwistedRKO2012: Kind of a hodgepodge of things. I have several Pops and other Funko products. A buddy of mine has gotten me a couple of high end Japanese (I think) Mega Man X figurines, though all I need there now is Sigma. I collected just a handful of Amiibos. The two important ones were Ness and Roy, but I picked up a few others I found on discount or received them as gifts. I also collect vinyl, though I listen to it as well. :)

I know this is cliche, but Portal 2. The lore, dialogue, humor, puzzle design, atmosphere, everything about that game just leaves you wishing that there was another 10 or 20 hours at least you can play through (which, yeah, there's a great co-op campaign, but for the purposes of this thread, I'm referring to another single player campaign). That game is a showcase of one of Valve's strongest characteristics: you can see an unparalleled level of intelligence in every tiny element of this game, but you NEVER once feel dumb, even if it takes you an hour to solve a single puzzle room.

Single player games? I see so much hype about the Witcher series, GTA 5, Fallout 4, Tomb Rider, etc. but really what I am missing out of these games?

I feel the same way about the Witcher, honestly. I got the first game for $1.50 from a GOG sale and tried it and just wasn't impressed with any of it. I keep hearing my friends and family rave about the Witcher 3. I got a copy for free simply for being a GameStop employee during the game's release but my PC isn't strong enough to run it so I've not tried it. I can answer for those other three, though:

Fallout 4: Let me just say this up front: yes, the roleplaying is watered down compared to past entries in the series. You get very little chance to resolve encounters by any means save combat, but that doesn't mean it's entirely absent. More importantly, Bethesda created another huge and mesmerizing world with post-apocalyptic Boston. There are great stories you can find in this game only by taking time to explore and do sidequests. The lore you can find in notes and, more commonly, computers is often more compelling than the main story. Also, the settlement building is addictive. You'll build yourself a house to store all your excess stuff and then will quickly funnel into you trying to transform a settlement into a Minecraft style masterpiece.

GTA 5: The story is good if you enjoy gritty crime dramas, but the big focus here is the open world. There's not scads of lore to discover like in Fallout, but the AI behind the citizens often does bizarre and hilarious things that can elevate both accidental and intentional player exploits to some of the satisfying and gut bustingly funny things in gaming. In other words, this game encourages you to make the experience your own and gives you the tools to do so, even more so in multiplayer.

Tomb Raider: I never played the originals, but I've played the reboots, so my opinion here doesn't really count, but I'm gonna give it anyway. The reboots are, simply, thrilling. You get the action-movie-meets-Indiana-Jones feel of the original games plus a healthy dose of cleverly designed survival elements that remind you that your character is barely out of her youth and is not yet the badass she will become.

So, yeah, I completely get your skepticism. Hype these days is carefully crafted by publishers to sell games rather than organically generated by word of mouth from actually worthwhile games and has resulted in fiascoes like No Man's Sky, but some of those heavily hyped games really are worth while. If you're a console gamer, I'd recommend borrowing a copy of one of those games from a friend if you can. If you're a PC gamer, Twitch is your friend.

Up until yesterday I would have said the original Dead Space. Due to the isolation and the cleverly concealed jump scares, you'll be swearing at your screen frequently and loudly. Anyway, I just finished playing Fran Bow for the first time yesterday. Jesus Christ, man. I've been a fan of psychological horror over the years but I was not prepared for that. That game deals with some incredibly heavy subject matter as seen from the prospective of the ten year old titular protagonist. It's brilliant but it's truly horrifying and very disturbing. You're gonna need a strong stomach to be able to get through that game, but it's worth it as it all leads toward a heartbreaking but honest view of mental illness and those who suffer from it.

@athanasios1: As far as online and class variety go, I'd recommend Champions Online. The community is still there and generally pretty good, and the class variety and customization are huge. It's a super hero themed MMO, so you can either choose from one of a large number of archetypes (think non-trademark infringing versions of like the Punisher and Doctor Strange, among others) or you can create a freeform character and Frankenstein together a number of different powers to make your own unique hero. Also, you get to create your own nemesis, too. It is free to play, and their free to play system isn't awful as they don't put hardly any core features behind a paywall, so...yeah.

First one I can clearly remember playing was Super Mario Bros on the NES. First console I ever owned was a Sega Genesis, though it was a Christmas gift from my parents. First console I ever bought was the GameCube. I took my first ever paycheck from my first ever job at the age of 16 and bought the console, two extra controllers (for my younger brothers) and a copy of Melee. I had that thing for five years. So many Friday nights joyously wasted while arguing and laughing with brothers.

@smooth4lyfe: Definitely looking forward to Mania. I've had the collector's edition for PC preordered since some time last year because the game looks great and that bundle is just sharp. I'm firmly on the fence about Forces. It's either going to decent at best or just another failed attempt to make Sonic edgy and different and thus a continuation of Sega's determination to miss the point as hard as they can. I'm content to wait and see on Forces.

As a long time Assassin's Creed fan, it sort of comes with the territory. We'll always have Syndicate.

@Byshop: I was coming to say the same thing. You guys still haven't completely gotten your shit together since the overhaul.
