Maybe I'm missing something but they give a really scathing review even though the only real problem sounds like the frame rate which sounds disappointing but not "Do Not Buy" worthy as the headline commands. The battery issue doesn't really sound that bad. It's not like you're playing online deathmatches when you run out of batteries. Annoying? Sure but my Pac Man plug and play console has the same unscrewing issue, still has the original batteries in it from like 4 years ago and still turns on. I probably wouldn't be dumping 40hrs worth of gaming into this thing every week so battery replacement doesn't really bother me. Also the Genesis always required you to turn the power off before adding a cart. I get that it's not 1991 anymore but again that doesn't really bother me much either and having to double press a button on start up seems like a non-issue. Quirky maybe but it wouldn't ruin any fun. At least they finally fixed the audio problems that have always plagued these things.

@fig56: As much as I love my Xbox One, you're right. Master Chief Collection was like Microsoft's flagship game for over a year.

@Pyrosa: I decided to play all 3 ME games back to back since I had never done that and this time I decided to buy all the relevant DLC for all 3 games. I hated that after 4 years, the 3 expansions on ME3 still cost $45 total when I can buy the whole trilogy on PC for about $12. At least it feels complete though I'm tempted to buy it all on PC again even if just for the graphics upgrade.

@newagegamersare: It's only a bad value if all you do is require the "newest, latest, best." I don't play competitive multiplayer so from a single player standpoint I find it to be a fantastic value.

Total Annihilation is still my favorite Strategy Game. It boasts one of the best game soundtracks ever (I only found out a couple of years ago that the composer was Jeremy Soule, the same guy who did all the modern Elder Scrolls games which explains a lot... and he was 21 at the time. Seriously, screw that guy and his "just graduated high school 5 minutes ago" success. Meanwhile I said I wanted to work in the film industry when I was 21 and I was still serving people soda and popcorn at the local cinema for another year, but I digress) and has simplistic energy management but still presents a perfect challenge. Love that game!

"It was either like, go make an entire new game or do Skyrim."

Oh no... a new game? Everyone would have hated that.

@rinshun: Just because the game isn't Metal Gear Solid doesn't mean it can't be a great game.

"And while our home formation is about 110,000 light years in diameter, Andromeda doubles that.

Of course, BioWare won't be able to truly capture something of that scope."

To be fair though all the Mass Effect games really only let you get a sample of the scale anyway, going only to a few dozen planets to really explore and usually only one or two hub worlds in each game. It told a story and each of the stops you made were specific to the story being told. Each game had entirely different planets and stations. It wasn't about simply seeing how big the galaxy was.

Also I know it's off topic but it's crazy to think that No Man's Sky WILL "be able to truly capture something of that scope."

@am_h8ter_ade: "you knowingly gear your games to kids yet your games are always rated M" that was my original statement. The implication is that it's a shady business practice when you knowingly make Mature rated games for children who aren't. There is no contradiction. I'm not debating the desire for money and trying to make the most of their investment. I played these kinds of games as well when I was a kid. Obviously it's not illegal for kids to play these games but you have to understand that if a game is deemed 17+ they're not pulling that out of a hat.
