@henrythefifth: To me BC is such a blessing!! And I love it so much, it's so nice to have your games move forward with you. I'm the type of gamer who usually gets rid of my older consoles as the new ones come out. And with backwards compatibility I'm able to keep my games and add them to my current library of games so that way if I feel like playing an old game which I do every once in a while it's nice to know its there and works and in Microsoft case usually works better!! Just a + anyway u look at a it. Some people use it all the time and some never do but it's nice to have.

The curse of the third console lol. N64,PS3, XB1. But seriously I think Phil is doing a great job, bringing backwards compatibility, Xbox play anywhere, Xbox streaming from console to PC and soon to phones, Xbox game pass is great!! But it is true Xbox needs way more exclusives and quality ones, not to say that they are all bad I actually enjoy Halo 5, and my most played game of the year is Halo wars 2 because I love strategy games and I don't always want to go on my PC to play starcraft. But we already know they are coming from the seven studios they purchased last year plus they're in-house studios, I think 343 will do a good job with infinite and gears five looks good. Never thought scalebound looked good and I was always shocked that people really wanted it even when it wasn't canceled I thought the game looked dumb. It's clear that everything is set in motion for next generation, this generation they took a hit but then when Phil took over He had to make changes that were put in motion for years already, like the stupid Kinect! And TV BS! So I think that's why he focused on the foundation for the generations to come. Not a free pass but I can understand his strategy.

I remember being a kid in 99 and playing on my brand new Sega Dreamcast (which seemed so next gen), I also had a PlayStation and N64, they were all great in their own way.

But that 99 tech would eventually showcase really well with games like Sonic adventures, house of the dead, shemue, crazy taxi, Soul Calibur, etc...

With that being said do you think that we have progressed considerably in video game advancement? Or marginally?

Not just Dreamcast I mean everything in that era let's not forget starcraft came out in 98 and is still played today.

If you were alive back then is modern gaming what you might have expected games to look and feel like around 2020?

--------------------------

And bonus question: what do you think 2039 is going to look like?

Are you excited for next gen? Or do you feel like you want to ride out current-gen a little bit longer than the suspected 2020 time frame? Do you think the mid Gen console upgrades commend that? I think 2020 is a perfect time to release new hardware. Don't get me wrong I am still enjoying this generation a lot and I don't necessarily feel constrained by the hardware especially because I mainly use the Xbone X. But I'm just excited with curiosity what new hardware with supposedly way better CPUs can deliver. What about you?

Halflife. It's basically is one of the most influential games made in and outside it's genre. For example, it influenced the recent God Of War trying to not to have cut-scenes, the developer specifically cites it.

The title says it all, for example I think Doom

007 GoldenEye

Counterstrike

Halo

And Cod MW1

Revolutionized the first person shooter (FPS) genre for whatever reason. But I'm curious what do you think are other games that revolutionized their genres?
