[QUOTE="bad_fur_day"]

This thread annoys me. The amount of classics from this and last gen I could list would fill up this page. There must be something wrong with your brain or something, maybe you should get that looked at. ^^b

All fans of fighters will admit the following: Street fighter 3 is better than Street Fighter 4

All fan of platformers will admit the following: Sonic 1 & 2 are better than the new Sonics.

Even your friend Grammaton admits Twilight Princess failed to meet the standards of Zelda 3 (which was also made 15 years before).

I don't think you'll find anyone who disagrees with this statement, however I also think that most people will agree that old gameshave notbeen translated on to the new generation of consoles very well.

It is not possible to get a decent sonic that is not on the mega drive and when you think about it it makes allot of sense, all sonic did was run really fast, jump on things and collect rings and we were happy with that because firstly that was a new thing and secondly the mega drive couldn't manage much more, but when new consoles come out with their new technology we expect more of our games and running really fast just doesn't cut it any more.

The first Zelda I played was Ocarina of Time and I do prefer it to the Twilight Princess, however it is only because the old Zelda format is not really good enough as modern rpg's go and while I am quite willing to accept it on an older console such as the N64, I expect better story lines, graphics and game play in a modern rpg then Zelda format can provide.

I am sure you can come up with an endless list of modern versions of classic games that are not as good as the originals; however this does not mean that all classic games are better then all new games, it simply means that the classic games have not been translation well on to modern consoles.

In my opinion if you take the best rpg/fighters/platformers on the Megadrive, SNES, N64or Playstation and then compare them to the best rpg/fighters/platformers on the PS2, PS3, Wii or Xbox 360, I think you'll find that the games on the newer consoles will be more enjoyable and more innovative then the classics.

For instance Street Fighter 3 could be considered better then Street Fighter 4, but Soul Calibre 4 is most defiantly better then Street Fighter 3.

[QUOTE="muthsera666"][QUOTE="Rizla_Plus"]Most 3d games have no heart. Their made for the wrong reasons, they feel very macho, their violent, their games for sexually insecure homophobes.SteelAttack
What? Modern games are all for straight people that are afraid of same gender attraction? That makes little....no sense.

Now my sexuality is compromised. I need a strong man to hold me.

wait....I like both modern and classic games so does that mean I am a sexually insecure homophobe who is also secure in my sexuality and have great platform timing ( thank you sonic)........I am sooooo confused 8)

To get back on topic, anyone who can say they still like 16 bit graphics with a straight face deserves a medal. I still play the odd 16 bit game ( I have given my list in a previous post in this thread) and even though I still like the game play, the graphics are farely crappy in comparison to games like fallout 3 and even Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Dexter on the PS2.

Though I will say they to not look as haggered and old as the first 3 games, Sonic 3D is unplayable for me for many reasons but most of all the graphics

Most of the decent games for rent can be bought cheaper used (if you rent a few times because it is good) so I never rent. I buy A LOT of games and most of them tend to be second hand. Like most of you who have replied to this post, I only buy a game new if I can not wait for a used copy because I know it will be good or if you get extra features if you purchase the game new. e.g Borderlands, Dragon Age: Origins

The controls for Wet can get a tad fiddly when you are trying to string long combos of acrobatics together. I have the 360 version and I have played it on the PS3 and because I am far more comfortable with the 360 controller I found it slightly more difficult on the PS3. So I would recommend going for the version on the platform that has the controller you are the most comfortable with.

I grew up playing the Mega Drive and I have had some gaming experiences on that console that I would not trade for the world. I still pick up a play Sonic 2, Streets of Rage 3 Vectorman, Gain Ground and Aladdin every now and then. These games are full of nostalgia for me and are down right fun up until you get so frustrated that you almost break your joy pad. But they are not better then the new games out there at the moment. The story lines in most classic games are quite frankly rubbish (the FF series is the most notable exception to this) and the controls tended to be a bit limited. To say that a game will be boring just because it is new is ridiculous, just as it would be equally ridiculous to dismiss a game just because it is old. The truly great games are great not matter how old or new they are . A truly great game is a game that manages to get the most out of the console that it is not, that has great game play and that you can go back to. A few games like this can be found on every generation of console.

As long as it fits within the context of the game and the game is an !8 then I think it would be a good idea. All the blanked out screens and wide shots can be very silly.

This game is going to be awesome it is quite literally not possible for me to be more excited about a game. btw I thick most of you guys are right, some parts are liner but that you can break off from the main quest at certain points and do side missions and explore, however as far as I know certain sections of the map and certain side missions will only become available once you have completed up to a certain point of the main story.
