My first ever PC build + room's geeky makeover finally DONE! [pictures inside]

Hi! Hope everyone is well.

I recently finished my first ever PC build piece by piece, I had done simple tasks before switching/adding sound cards and graphics cards. Adding cooling fan for overclocked RAM. Never though a complete build from scratch, so this was quite the experience/treat for me. It was fantastic, frustrating at times of course (troubleshooting, but I love that part too :)) Thankfully the internet has all the answers and in the right PC enthusiasts forum many questions got answered. The whole experience has been eye opening, I've been around computers since '94 it's about damn time I build my own. I've learned so many things that I won't do next time lol. Can't wait to build my next one. Haven't had an AMD/ATI combo PC in a couple of years now, feels nice to be back.

new PC specs:

Case: Cooler Master HAF 932

PSU: Corsair TX850w

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition 3.2GHz

CPU Cooling: Zalman CNPS9900ALED 120mm Blue LED

Mobo: Gigabyte 890FXA-UD5 (rev. 2.0)

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz

HDD's: Crucial SSD (2x64GB) Raid 0 + WD Caviar Black 1TB

GPU: Crossfire x2 Sapphire Radeon HD 5970 2GB

Along with that addition, got some nice posters framed

Enough yapping get to the pics! :o :D

You might be thinking "why do you need a 6 core CPU and 8gigs of RAM for gaming ?" In which case I would say "I am glad you asked." :D My intentions with this build were more than just gaming in mind. I am planning of taking full advantage using my 3D modeling software for school/hobby/some day hopefully a career. Like Autodesk Maya 2010/2011, Z-Brush 4.0, Unreal Development Kit (UDK), Maya textures, shaders and lighting renders (are way faster now), of course Photoshop CS5 and many more. Also now that I can finally play and record gameplay smoothly (without annoying video lag like before) I plan on getting into some video editing, especially for some frag videos I want to make with some fancy editing/after effects etc. :D

--------------------------------------------

Some entertainment:

Nice video I found on youtube a while back.

It's calledThe Gmod Idiot Box: Episode 8.

Now I know there are tons off these "funny" Gmod videos on youtube.

Trust me though this one is a hit.

Anyone whose played Half-Life 2 and Left 4 Dead should enjoy this video. :D

Here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6Fpj-tmRiE

Hopefully some of you will like it.

-----------------------------------------------

What I am playing right now:

-Metro 2033

-STALKER: Call of Pripyat

-Battlefield:Bad Company 2 (hooked on the MP)

Finally getting to enjoy these games in all their glory.

Looking forward to:

-Mafia 2 (this week woohoo!)

-------------------------------------

That's all I got for now. As usual comments/suggestions are most welcome.

Have good day/night everyone.

Until next time.

Until next year E3!

I'm sad that it's over I look forward to the E3's here at Gamespot every year since 2005, the coverage is unlike the other sites they seem to always do their own thing. The last On the Spot this year more than made up for the first 2 (or 3 lol) episodes having signal problems, it was a wild un-scripted good time. Also the chatroom to talk to other Gamespot members live, while watching the conferences and the shows is always a good time too. I always leave with a smile on my face and a sense of what a great community this site has developed over the years. (Through the good and the bad times of course, the site still prevails) This event each year makes me proud to be a member of Gamespot and I am glad the site is still around. Thank you GS staff for a great E3 2010!!!

Looking forward to:

- RAGE ;)

- Bulletstorm

- Mafia 2

- Mortal Kombat

- Fallout: New Vegas

- Crysis 2

- Hunted: The Demon's Forge

- Dead Space 2

- Gears of War 3

- Crackdown 2

- Ghost Recon: Future Soldier(maybe... I'll wait for reviews first, hopefully they don't butcher it like the Rainbow Six series) :(

...and probably be buying a Nintendo 3DS. :) :D:D

Emblems: (pretty much all of them) yay me! :P

Including this little gem:

 E3 2010 Special Agent

Unlocked by watching every press conference, three episodes of Tonight On the Spot, every day of GameSpot's E3 stage show, and every broadcast of the LiveCam Tour all live.

As usual comments are welcome, have a great weekend everyone. :D

It's been a while + new stuff [pics]

Wow haven't made a blog in a long time, I am quite enjoying my winter break; I hope you all are too. What have I been up to? Pretty much taking care of all my school work bombarded with it lol. My new laptop is helping me out a whole lot with my 3D modeling classes and lighting and texturing 3D models, characters, props etc (rendering goes by pretty quickly now) versus my old Macbook pro. Other than that trying to get as much sleep as possible so I can function in school properly. Eventhough, school gives me a ton of work and I spend long nights finishing my work and such. I always try to squeeze in a couple of hours of sleep. What am I playing? well currently I am playing alot of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (wow what surprise lol) and Killing Floor both on the PC of course, plus some new games which I mention below. Well on to the stuff...

My new and improved gaming room + new games

Well I originally bought a second monitor (both 1920x1080) for my PC, it was rather nice for awhile I must say. Having windows opened on both monitors had made my school work a ton more easy to finish up. Eventually I grew tired and bored of the dual monitor setup, especially when opening up/running a game on one monitor made the other one brighter (gamma goes through the roof) this was mostly with id games for some reason that caused this. Quake Wars and Doom 3 for example did this. I could have just turned off the other monitor while I played, but that defeats the purpose of having two monitors in the first place. I just began to feel as if that second monitor wasn't getting it's moneys worth. Having the vista sidebar on the second monitor open while playing a game was rather nice though, could keep track of my internet connection signal, my gpu fan speed all the core temps etc. without having to minimize the game. Anywho, something was missing though, I would always have to go to the living room to play my console games (Wii, PS3 and 360) So I decided to take my 24'' inch Dell monitor and logitech 5.1 surround sound and hook up my 360 to it. It's been like this for a couple of days now and I will keep it like this for a while. I was originally going to use my PS3 instead, but then again I use that too as my blu-ray player in my living room for movie nights on my 42'' Panasonic Viera so that idea was quickly shut down :D Plus, I spend more time on Xbox Live anyways so it was a win win situation. PC and 360 side by side is something I can get use too. Gaming multitasking ftw! lol. So I am looking forward to many sleepless nights, achievement hunting and playing games on the PC. Now I have 5.1 sound on both 360 and PC running simultaneously thanks to my PC's sound card. :o On to the pics. :)

New games

Battlefield: Bad Company

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

So far has been fantastic, engaging single player story and a real nice multiplayer experience as well (ranks, unlocks etc)

All makes me even more excited to see Bad Company 2 coming to the PC and hopefully BF3 won't be to shabby either. ;)

----

R6: Vegas 2

Already beat the single player story on realistic and now I will be jumping in to play coop and adversarial MP.

----

Fight Night Round 4

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I loved Round 3 so I just had to pick this one up.

Fantastic visuals!!! :o and really great gameplay makes you really feel like a true boxer.

----

GTA 4: Lost and Damned DLC

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

and finally this one L&D for GTA 4, wow just wow!

Just an hour and 30 minutes in and already I can see this has been worth the money.

Enjoying the story so far, great dialogue and memorable characters.

Not to mention some new awesome bikes/weapons to use now. :D

Although when Johnny shouts at the enemy, he sometimes sounds just like Niko for some ood reason. :P

Well that has probably been my most lengthy blog yet. :D lol

Thanks for reading this and as always comments are most welcomed.

Have a good one folks, until next time. ;)

STALKER radiation sickness and E3 '09 most wanted list

When it comes down to it, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is by far one of the most immersive first person games ever created hands down. The atmosphere in game is unmatched by any other game out there imo. After playing for couple of minutes the new STALKER Complete 2009 mod here, I was once again hooked on my favorite game. Clear Sky did not match my expectations, eventhough a decent game in it's own right (especially after patches) I still love the original much more, because of the time period in which it takes place and the sheer edge of your seat scares, knowing there are so many mutants and creatures all around the Zone especially at night. Survival horror-ish at times even. The mod merges countless mods together beautifully and not only adds all the eye candy, but also adds many gameplay fixes the game needed from the get go, like the enemies that could spot you from ridiculous distances, even at night (huh?) if you want to sneak up on the enemy now, go right ahead it's possible and a lot of fun. ;) I have played other mods of course (Oblivion Lost, Priboi Story etc etc), but I still enjoy the vanilla storyline best and this mod provides just that. Below are some screenshots I have taken while playing the mod. Can't wait for Call of Pripyat! :D

Can't wait to start playing this badboy, I mean Pip-Boy. :)

Far Cry 2 screenshot story

So I was on this mission where I had to blow up a convoy for the arms dealer, to unlock new weapons.

I blew up their convoy truck and then the fire quickly spread.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The enemy got down from their beat up jeeps and started looking for me, but I was high up in a rock and they couldn't see me. There were 3 of them and I shot one and he went down, one of his buddies came over to help him helped him up to his shoulders to carry him to safety. :o While the other guy ran for his life, he wasn't gonna risk a sniper shot to the head from me. :) I am glad I finally saw this happen, AI helping out each other absolutely incredible. 8)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Then they both died because of the quickly spreading fire. :o

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

After that I chased down the last guy and shot him down.

Silence ensues, no more killing. I am of to find some more diamonds.

Just as the sun begins to come up. I live to fight another day. ;)

Overall the game truly has wonderful moments.

Sure it's missing some features (prone and leaning etc.) that hold it back from greatness.

Good game nonetheless. ;)
