First playthrough, Impossible difficulty

I'll try to describe the part I am stuck at: I've already traveled over that flying pad thing that makes you shoot through the air like a rocket (navigating through rocks and stuff). The part I am stuck on is shortly after that. I go down the path, kill two of those super-fast necromorphs, then I reach an area where a tentacle is blocking the path, and about 5 or 6 regular black necromorphs spawn (they crawl out over some fences, one by one).

I assumed the tentacle would stop blocking the path after I killed all the necromorphs, but it doesn't. I will kill them, one by one, until they stop spawning... but nothing happens. The wall of destruction just catches up with me and kills me.

Do I have to kill the tentacle too? I tried shooting it's yellow weak spot but it doesn't seem to do anything.

How do I get past this spot? Thanks!

I'm not talking about the resources like Scrap Metal, Semiconductors, etc... There is a resource specifically called "Ration Seal", and as far as I can tell, it's sole purpose is "in-game currency" for the purpose of paying for external microtransactions (rather than paying real world money). My question was - do these Ration Seals have any other purpose, or are they only for buying microtransactions? Because if that's all they do, then I might actually buy some of the microtransactions (I would never buy them with real world money, but in-game currency is okay with me). You know how in Mass Effect 3 you can buy multiplayer item packs with either in-game credits or real world money? I think these "Ration Seals" are like those credits. My question was "do they do anything else, and if so should I save them instead of spending them?"

Do they serve any other purpose besides functioning as in-game currency (i.e. an alternative to real world $ for microtransactions)?

I am strongly against paying real world $ for microtransactions, but I am not opposed to using in-game currency, since unlike real money, I consider that a legitimate game mechanic, and it does not break immersion.

However, if Ration Seals serve some other purpose down the line that I have not discovered yet, I don't want to spend them on microtransactions and then later find out I should have saved them for something else.

I am currently on Chapter 5, FYI. So no spoilers beyond that please. Thank you!

That's strange, I haven't had any trouble finding online matches at all in the past few days. I played for a month or two right after release, then I stopped up until this past week. I got the Omega DLC, and it put me back in the mood to play multiplayer. Then I saw how much stuff they added to multiplayer and got very excited. It feels very fresh with all this new content (I stopped playing shortly after the first free DLC, Resurgence). I'm on XBox though, so that might have something to do with it.

I just leveled my Paladin up to 20 and I can't decide what to do with my last 6 points.

I have Incinerate and Snap Freeze fully leveled, and I have 5 points in both Energy Drain and the N7 Paladin tree (leaving 3 points in the health/melee tree). I have all the tech powers spec'ed to rock tech combos. But I can't decide whether to put the last level up into

a) Energy Drain +40% damage

b) Energy Drain +40% damage reduction for 10 seconds

c) N7 Paladin -20% gun weight

I use a single gun: a level X Revenant, with a stabilizer, which is quite effective on any enemy at any range. That gives me +135% recharge speed, but it still feels a little slow (the cooldown on Snap Freeze especially is quite long). So I'd like to reduce gun weight, but both remaining Energy Drain options also sound appealing.

Thoughts?

P.S. I named my Paladin Solaire, since he's one of my favorite video game Knight characters, and I made him red and yellow... and he ended up looking like Iron Man instead, by accident. He looks awesome though.
