Well i taught them to repair the robots. Heh, i came back to big town after, only to find the place to be deserted. The only sign of a battle was Flash's dead body beside the pond, everyone else was just gone. The robot still worked though :P! He was still patrolling the town. They did not turn up in German town. Once i head to Paradise Falls, i will check if they were "employed" there.
Conclusion: It does not matter what you teach them. They will usually not survive the next raid without your help anyway. Having them gone in this game does not really mater, all you could get there was free healing and little trading.
