The 3DS should have a virtual console option like the wii, so you can play: NES/SMS/SNES/Genesis/TG16/Neo Geo/N64 as well as GB/GBC/GBA games. But Sadly the 3DS only has GB/GBC option right now. Not even GBA. Sad. Its not like the 3DS cant handle any of those afformented systems, like the Wii does. If the 3DS had all of the systems available at launch like the Wii's VC line up, i'd probably drop like 200 bucks over time on VC games alone, since im a big Retro gamer.

Only time will tell if they add more games/systems (Which they should, and there is no reason why they shouldn't or can't)

Eye strain is a common thing, and 3D images can cause strain quicker. Luckly you can simply turn off the 3D graphics. I actually have problems viewing 3D images for too long (I cant sit more then 10-15 minutes in a 3D or Imax movie, I get severe vertigo, dizziness and nauseua). So I'll not be using the 3D feature of the 3DS very often. But that wont stop me from buying a 3DS. The 3DS has better graphics and a lot of other things going for it. The 3D part is the feature I look forward to the least. Street Pass, bigger games (512mb vs min 2gb to 8gb carts), Whole new library of games and complete backwards compatability with all the DS titles. Whats not to love!

The Iphone/Android isnt really an established gaming platform. Most of the games on these phones are "Elevator Games", quick little diversions to play around with while during short breaks, in waiting rooms and what not, where pulling out your psp or DS would be impractical (depending on your level of practiciality). Would you spend 3 hours playing angry birds? But people would spend 3 hours or more straight playing Call of Duty, easy. The games are too cheap for developers to make high profile titles. Would you ever see a 30+ hour RPG on an android? Or have the tactile reponse of a controller for input on an Iphone, a phone with barely any buttons let alone an analog stick. Would many people out there go for a title (or several for that matter) for 30-50 bucks on a phone, that they most likely upgrade in a few years? If they lose their phone, or it breaks? Will they be able to get a new one and re-download/transfer all their 30-50 dollar titles? I own a DS. The games come on carts where I can interchange them and they are always there unless they break. My DS will always be there as well, untill it breaks or dies. I dont have to trade my DS in, or add it to the pile of old phones I have. I know all the games will work just fine, and the control input is predictable (weather the games are themselves good are another story entirely lol).Android based Phones are churned out way too quickly often times with different internal specs (Storage memory "Ram" or system memory if you will, Processor design and speed) I have an android based phone, and most of them are mini games, not "real" games. Android/Iphone has a LONG way to go before even attempting to compete with something like a 3DS or a PSP. If the next PSP is actually a phone as well - I feel that it will be doomed to failure, much like the N-gage.

One problem that an "all in one" Gaming handheld/Phone has is the the Cell phone service providers themselves. There is a lot of vendor lock in with cell phones in the US, "Locked" Cell phones are pretty much all you can get (yes I know you can unlock some cell phones, but that is beyond your average cellphone user) If Nintendo or Sony decided to release their "Gaming Phone" to the masses, what carrier would have the rights to sell it? ATT? T-mobile? If you have Sprint and are in a 2 year contract with them and Verizon wireless gets the exclusive rights to a Gaming handheld phone, your outta luck unless you cough up 200 bucks to break your contract with sprint.

There is so much talk about how phones are slowly eroding the handheld market. I say that's just plain stupid. It two completly different markets,

Phones and Game Systems don't mix. When I want to game on the go, or I am away from my console, I whip out my DS or PSP. When I want to talk on the phone or text, I whip out my Android phone. Plain and simple.

4DS will be a revision - Giving you the ability to manipulate the space-time continuum, followed by the 5DS - Allowing you to pass freely to and from the fifth dimention. LOL!

The 3DS looks great the way it is. Dont know what else they could add (other then releasing new colors). But this is Nintendo we are talking about, and they love to redesign things, mostly for the better, even if some of the features aren't enough for established owners of previous incarnations to go running out and get the latest revision. Innovation, wether warrented or not, is still innovation nonetheless.

Wont remark about what has already been confirmed (Like MGS Snake eater etc)

Remakes:

Dragon Quest I, II, and III - Done well this time please, not like the GBC versions. Thank you.

Final Fantasy V, VI, and VII (IX would be nice, could care less about VIII) - I think V and VI are in the bag since we were robbed of them after FF IV DS, but VII and IX probably won't happen.

Probably some others I can't think of right now

New/Original titles:

A new Zelda 3DS

Dragon Quest XI (Since X is comming to the Wii... eventually)

Final Fantasy Tactics A3

Castlevania 3DS

Doom 3

A Civilazation game (Done well)

Starcraft in someway shape or form

Warcraft in someway shape or form

Do I dare say: a 3DS MMORPG? Like a truly massive MMORPG like an EQ2 or WoW? (might be a bit hard yet for a handheld, unless the external SD card can be accessed as a HD to D/L additional content/maps/items etc)

Dont know, to be honest. I do however wish there were more. Street Fighter II port comes to mind, as well as some of the other classics like King of Fighters, Mortal Kombat and others. If the DSi could download and play Wii VC games, I would have bought one at lauch and dumped about 100 or more bucks into Nintendo VC downloads lol. Lets hope that the 3DS's VC can download more then just Gameboy original games!

The GBA tab stuck around for like 2 years or more after the DS was launched. The DS tab will be around for quite some time. GS does however need to get rid of those other two stupid iphone and android tabs. Those are hardly gaming platforms, and they remind me of the days when the N-gage had a tab (Shudders).

I got my DS Phat on launch day (November 21st 2004) because I knew Nintendo wouldn't let me down in the hand-held world. I wasn't awfully impressed by the gimmicky features the PSP was offering, the awful load times and carrying around mini-disks to play games, and the high price tag was a big turn off. Sure the PSP graphics were better, but I knew UMD movies wouldn't last more then two years or so and while there are still a few truly awesome games on the PSP even to this day the ratio of Gems vs Junk on the PSP is still quite high.

The first two years though, the DS's library of games were... well... pretty bad. Near the end of 2006 it seemed they opened the floodgates of great DS titles that have been pouring out over the last few years (im a big RPG fan, and the DS is pretty much where its at this generation of gaming devices for RPGs)

I love the dual screens, Think that was the best part of the system, and the wifi. The touch screen I dont find myself using much, infact I hate having to use it for long periods, unless it is needed (LOZ: Phantom hourglass.. ugggg!).

I'm sure Nintendo's upcomming 3DS will continue the successful trend that the DS started. Unless the PSP2 has something earthshattering up its sleeve, it will be 3DS FTW.
