There's also the assbackwards weapons mechanics. For the longest time I couldn't understand why my wizard did poor damage. Until I realized spell damage is directly dependent on weapon dps.

I didn't even realize that... however, you've just answered some of my frustrations with the game. :o

Pfft, proof right there that you're just blindly hating on it like most other people. You can't even come up with your own reasons for disliking it! Goofball...

You haven't attempted to read my posts. That's okay though. I never said I didn't like it.

I've heard that the game isn't as good as everyone was expecting, but why is that? any particular reason?

DucksBrains

Cheap/lazy/poor implementation of difficulty, boring stat system, boring items in a 'loot' game. It's just a game of hard gear-checks(grinding) and nothing else.

Also the zone randomization kinda sucks, too much of the levels is the same each time, most objectives are always in the same direction.

Yeah, like Hellgate:lol:

They've succeeded with Guildwars and Torchlight. One failed game, versus the names they've succeeded with? Losing them killed Diablo. I actually forgot about Hellgate, until you mentioned it just now. Although, there was clearly enough of a cry for them to bring it back, even as a free to play from another company.

Nothing killed Diablo. It still just as great as ever. You people suffer from some kind of mental illness if you can somehow like D2 while at the same time dislike D3. It makes no sense I tell you.

Fanboy alert.

The gameplay is very repetitive. Basically all you do is spam-clicking on a bunch of units, while finishing very easy quests. And lets not begin with the story in the game...

I'm not a Diablo expert by any means, but isn't Diablo 2 gameplay pretty similar to Diablo 3?

You are correct. I've seen a LOT of Diablo "fans" QQing about the repetitive game play. All of the Diablo games have similar gameplay.

Diablo 2 was far worse at launch.

At least no game other than Starcraft 2 fried GPUs in the main menu

the original brains behind the Diablo games would have done a much better job.

So let me get this right, you've only played SC2 an D3 at launch, but feel that is adequate experience to make that sort of claim, when WoW also had an extremely unstable launch? Yes, D3 launched in an extremely rocky manner. Blizzard made Diablo 3 not for the fans, not for the game itself, but to keep from losing its license. The original creators of the game, for the most part, no longer work with Blizzard. Rather, they have a hand in Torchlight and Guild Wars.

As one of those who have waited ten years, I'm disappointed with the game. I cannot, and will not, be happy with it. It's a shame Blizzard didn't let it go; the original brains behind the Diablo games would have done a much better job.

Definitely a troll. And unfortunately, not very amusing. I wonder if OP actually has his xBox connected via HD? Because on my, Skyrim certainly does look better than Oblivion.

Ok sorry but you are ALL wrong. If you have an xbox 360 Arcade console that is the problem. I learned today via xbox support that the Arcade version is incapable of playing original xbox titles, which dont get me wrong is extremely lame and that problem should never exist. JETSWAD
How can they all be wrong if your problem is that yours is an xBox 360 arcade? I have an xBox 360 that is NOT an arcade that IS backward compatible, and yet won't play an arcade game, despite the fact I've now downloaded it a total of five times. Your solution isn't the only one.

OP: Did you ever find anything out?

Yeah but AA is not really that taxing compared to other graphical features, if it was under the hood people could just adjust settings accordingly.

AA is one of the largest taxing feature actually, followed by draw distance. In fact, many games can be handled by average and lower PCs at full graphics with no AA, but once you turn up the AA, you'll meet the FPS lagdom. WoW, Rift, NFS: World. All of those I can run at full graphics, 4x AA with decent framerates. If I drop the AA, I run the at max FPS and if I raise the AA, they become unplayable (except WoW, but yeah.) Granted, I don't have a high end pc anymore -- it's glory days were about three to four years ago.

Now that you mention it, I haven't gotten much Nuketown in my rotation, either. I still get plenty of Firing Range, but the last few times I've played, I never got Nuketown.
