well I just finished the game, and the budget must have run out around the time I got to the top of the lighthouse. :P I'm just surprised that so much from this world packed with detail and unanswered questions was never adressed. I can dig ambiguity, sometimes it works better for us to fill in grey areas with our imagination, but I think arkane took that too far here.

what was your favorite level, aesthetics wise?

Up to the final lighthouse. I can't wait to start again.

I have to say, without spoiling anything, it looks like a very appropriate setting of the final mission for the evil, unforgiving, brutal SOB I made my character out to be.

Haha, same. I finished with High Chaos, after annihilating anybody in my path!

and also making a nice tasty stew along the way? ;)

I sorta see where he's coming from. If you do it once and it's really well done then it's always remembered really well and becomes a little gem. A sequel could come out worse or too much the same and sort of lose that magic and novelty.

Then the other side of things is some parts of the game are very rough and could be ironed out in a sequel that could turn out to be even better than the first.

Personally I would love to see a sequel and have it done on next gen in true open world fashion. One large city sort of like Arkham City but bigger that you could run freely all over buildings and take up quests and find treasure/secrets everywhere. It could be really cool. Imagine the ability to leg it and blink all over the city, would be sweet. And storywise the game hasn't much to lose cos to be fair the story is crap so far and so are the characters.

it could be set in those "uncivilized" continents that are described in the scattered materials. that could be truly open world, but then there'd be less fictional infastructure to mess with like the technology, sewers, and mansions. you'd have to either drop the rats mechanic or find a way to write them into the story again. I'd hate for them to have to throw out so much stuff that they already developed, like you said, ironing out all the flaws would make this a perfect game.

but my huge issue would be with the name. they can't just rehash the same story idea, but dishonored is a name that is very close to the plot of this game. "Dishonored 2" would just be sad. More game names should have subtitles like "fall of man", something descriptive, true to the theme, and unique.

I think it would have helped the atmosphere if the weepers were just neutral NPCs. making them standard zombie enemies is a really sloppy decision IMO. you can sell a plague as a terrible, horrific thing in your story and world without making it into this rage virus we've seen a thousand times before.

the rats are great on their own as a hostile element that shows how chatoic this world is. imagine if weepers were just completely unresponsive to abuse, like individual rats nibble on their feet without interruption, or swarms make their rounds and "clean" the population out before your eyes. or have guards in hazmat suits packing them into houses, boarding up the doors, and forgetting about them.

just finished the first assassination. I must have spent over 3 hours running around in that mission. had to backtrack a bit because I forgot to pick up runes, but damn, after the linear tutorial, this game has blown me away.

why can't god ever speak for herself? it's always humans that do the talking, and the interpreting, and the preaching, and scoff at the awful business of simply backing up what they say.
