I sorta see where he's coming from. If you do it once and it's really well done then it's always remembered really well and becomes a little gem. A sequel could come out worse or too much the same and sort of lose that magic and novelty.
Then the other side of things is some parts of the game are very rough and could be ironed out in a sequel that could turn out to be even better than the first.
Personally I would love to see a sequel and have it done on next gen in true open world fashion. One large city sort of like Arkham City but bigger that you could run freely all over buildings and take up quests and find treasure/secrets everywhere. It could be really cool. Imagine the ability to leg it and blink all over the city, would be sweet. And storywise the game hasn't much to lose cos to be fair the story is crap so far and so are the characters.
it could be set in those "uncivilized" continents that are described in the scattered materials. that could be truly open world, but then there'd be less fictional infastructure to mess with like the technology, sewers, and mansions. you'd have to either drop the rats mechanic or find a way to write them into the story again. I'd hate for them to have to throw out so much stuff that they already developed, like you said, ironing out all the flaws would make this a perfect game.
but my huge issue would be with the name. they can't just rehash the same story idea, but dishonored is a name that is very close to the plot of this game. "Dishonored 2" would just be sad. More game names should have subtitles like "fall of man", something descriptive, true to the theme, and unique.
