I would get a 6800 or XT over 3070 or 3080 any day. **** 4k performance or DLSS, who tf plays on a 4K monitor anyways. All of these cards absolutely shred through 1080p/1440p gaming, which is what 99% of people's monitors are capable of(and at monitor sizes you're going to barely see a difference from 4k res to begin with, definitely not enough to warrant the sacrifice in FPS). So DLSS is irrelevant to me as I'd rather just have fast flawless looking native 1440p performance. Ray Tracing has potential but until it doesn't cause a massive drop in FPS for such a minor difference in improving the graphics, who cares. Not like you're going to turn it on while online gaming anyways, where the game running at a high refresh rate is infinitely more important than more accurate reflections of off screen objects on windows and rain puddles.
What's more important to me personally is software and longevity. I had nothing but Nvidia cards for close to a decade until I bought my RX 5700 and I couldn't be happier with it. I can't fucking stand Nvidia's Geforce Experience software. It was malware in my eyes. Constantly bugging me to sign in or create an account just to update a driver, which I kept forgetting the password for(since I had to come up with a new password each time). Shit got on my last nerves. Not to mention I had multiple issues with GFE update installs breaking the entire program to the point where I spent hours on end trying to fix it, because the uninstaller would simply crash and not uninstall it.
And there's just the fact that the GFE/Control Panel are antiquated as ****. I don't understand why Nvidia hasn't updated to a more modern streamlined software experience like AMD Adrenalin2020. Clean to look at, simple and easy to navigate, has all of the tools and options you'd ever use in one modern app. All of your performance monitoring tools, overclocking options, graphics/display/video settings, etc.(including Auto Overclocking and auto Undervolting for noobs). The gimmicks that come with Nvidia cards are just a nice bonus at best for me, I never used them personally. While I love AMD's Radeon Image Sharpening feature way more than Nvidia's more half baked sharpening option. Produces a better image with less(0%) performance hit. I love that the AMD Link smart phone app lets me not only play games remotely and view performance metrics remotely, but more importantly for me I use it all the time as a convenient af remote desktop app that doesn't require me to have any actual remote desktop software running on my PC. And again I can't stress enough how much I love that it's not constantly bugging me with popups to update my drivers then forcing me to try to remember some dumb login etc... it's just how I like my background software, invisible unless I go to it voluntarily.
Idk maybe you care more about Nvidia's gimmicks and don't give a shit about the software, shit maybe you even like GFE, but this is just how I feel personally. Oh and I forgot to touch on the longevity. I do think AMD's cards will hold their value and keep their performance for longer due to the extra VRAM and huge cache. Game files are only getting bigger as time passes, and top end games will need those bigger memory pools in a few years. So if you're the type of person to keep your card for a long time then it's something to consider.
I ranted on too much about GFE though and accidentally wrote a novel, lol sorry guys. 🤣 That should tell you how much I don't like it. Been a headache for me too many times. While Adrenalin 2020 has been a breath of fresh air. Idk what AMD's old software was like, maybe it sucked too. But I've been very impressed with A2020 since switching.
