Yeah, a lot more homework & maybe even some COLLABORATION (prior to release...)
between the venerable Nvidia & Microsoft camps woulda been welcome here....
You're right too - historically this always happens - we get the hype & the program...later comes the patches, fixes blah, blah. It does seem blatantly geared toward "the fast buck" in the short-term for Nvidia & Microsoft.
...but again hey, programmers gotta eat too, homes.
