Atheist. Glad to see more non-religous users on here.

br0kenrabbit

well don't I feel welcome..

You should have been in my shoes, a non-religious kid in the Bible Belt in the 80's.

It sucked donkey nuts. I got it from all sides.:x

I do find it embarrassing the way I see fellow Christians treat those of another religion or atheists at times.

[QUOTE="theone86"]

Republican mentality: keep homosexuals from being able to marry and adopt and vilify them as corrupting children, exacerbate racial and religious tensions, portray women who use contraception and abortion as sluts, try to dictate to women what they can do with ther bodies, call almost half the population of the country lazy.

Democrats call Republicans out on this.

"OMG, Democrats are being MEAN to me! Waaaaaah!"

theone86

You seem to be under the assumption that I'm a Republican, when when in reality you're speaking to a extreme conservative who I do not believe is present in this thread. I use none of the arguments you describe, nor do I know many conservatives that do. Based on my observations, liberals express more hateful reactions to conservative opinions than any conservative reaction I see. But if living in your fantasy world allows you to sleep better tonight, more power to you.

So you never got behind the birther argument, bought into harmful arguments that stereotype Latinos and Muslims, or bought into arguments like Mitt Romney's that called hard-working but struggling Americans lazy? Somehow I seriously doubt that.

At any rate, what hateful reactions are you talking about? In this thread we're talking about conservatives who want to come out and dictate to the rest of the country who can marry whom, and just because the reaction against that is extreme you think it's hateful? There's good reason for us to be outraged at some of the things conservatives say and do, that outrage is not the same as hate. Trying to portray homosexuals as dangerous and subversive is hateful.

I used the word "hateful" in that post the same way I think liberals do when referring to some conservative views or opinions. I don't think "hate" is the correct term in either sense. While I agree with you that it is justified to be outraged with some conservatives' reactions, I don't think it's fair to have that reaction towards conservatism in general based off a loud minority. The "hateful" reactions that I see from some liberals (not necessarily in this thread), are those that would accuse me of being a hater of women if I simply said that I am pro-life, for example. Like when you say conservatism portrays women as sluts; that idea isn't the basis for most conservatives' viewpoint. That reaction is what I find inappropirate.

[QUOTE="Rich3232"] and you've determined this based off of one post? Rich3232

Maybe I've stalked your posting history O.O

perhaps, nonetheless, if that's your prerogative, then that is your prerogative. i would just like to simply know how you reached such a conclusion.

Well maybe it was just a reaction on my part in an attempt at being clever. If that is the case, I apologize, and I am sure you are more than capable of making logical counter-arguments.

[QUOTE="Rich3232"] o deer, you seem to think i was trying to make a counter-argument. Rich3232

I should have known better, since you are obviously incapable of such.

[QUOTE="dave123321"]Next time bill oreilly has a guest that makes a statement , I will make one about something related but off topic from the thread. Will then demand that people honor my post with forethought WhiteKnight77

The think is, the talking head or if you rather, the host of the show, isn't the one advocating profiling, it was one of the "guests" who is also a talking head though normally not seen due to being a radio talk show host.

Topic title is quite misleading in that case.

All people should be profiled. It's an extremely useful facet of crime prevention.

Agreed, and this case is no exception.
