It's LOL when cows slams Ryse's 900p when PS4 has it's own 1920x1080p issues e.g. The Order 1886 (1920x800p).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Order:_1886

Publisher(s): Sony Computer Entertainment

Producer(s): SCE Santa Monica Studio

Please verify Drive Club is rendering at 720p.

So much wrong info in this post...

Both DriveClub and Knack have INTERNAL RESOLUTIONS of 1080p.

"DriveClub, the PlayStation 4s launch title racing game currently runs at 30fps at a resolution of 1080p"

"A native Full HD 1080p game, something which was rare on the PlayStation 3, Knack also displays fine details in the leaves on the trees..."

The Order is being made by READY AT DAWN, Santa Monica are just giving support (just like they did for Journey and Hohokum and many many other games).

1920x800 looks like an intentional cinematic approach, since the pixel count is just less 25% from 1080p and there is no upscaling (black bars).

If they wanted to lower pixel count for performance they would go to 900p upscaled, it would be 34% less pixel count and for most gamers it would be very hard to notice (like Ryse is doing).

1 -(1920 x 800) / (1920 x 1080) = 0.259 or 25.9 precent less.

OH DEAR!

I said 25% instead of 25,9%....

Wii U has a tiny install base, and most Wii U owners are casuals, kids or families, its hardly a hardcore console.

Are 6k or even 15-25k potential buyers enough to justify the resources spent on making a Wii U port?

For the little profit it would make, they wont bother.

If you want GTA V, get a PS3 or a 360. They are very cheap now...

I see a lot of posters making fun of Ryse because of the 900p resolution, but it's still a step up from 720p, which is what Knack and Drive Club is on the PS4, yet no one really cares or flames those games.

I would prefer every game this coming gen would be at 1080p, but that is not gonna happen, however I would rather have 900p then to downgrade to 720p ever again.

Bad thread title too.

This year´s "Journey" is "Rain".

Another short game made to trigger emotions with a great soundtrack, and, like Journey, its semi-indie (Journey was co-developed with Santa Monica Studios, Rain is co-developed with Japan Studio).

[QUOTE="Netret0120"]Teh shocker Every console sells at a loss and everyone that buys a ps4 WILL buy a $60 game. Problem solved.moistsandwich

Wow... your knowledge of the industry astounds me..... I mean, I find it astounding how much knowledge you lack.

Sony does not get $60 from the sale of a game.

$10-15 goes to retailer

$10-15 goes to Sony

$10-15 goes to Publisher

$10-15 goes to Dev Studio

This is approx how its divided up.

Sony would have to sell 4 games per person

However there is PS+ to consider.... I'd take a guess that about 50% of the people will subs. to PS+... and a large portion of those funds are profit....

I'd venture a guess that

a PS4

2 games

and PS+ Subscription would put Sony in the green.

hmm Retailer margin might be a bit smaller

If you consider 1st party games, the publisher is Sony, so its 30$ from the game + 50$ from psn plus (sony is most likely hoping for people to get Knack or Driveclub as 2nd game and KZ as 1st)

I loved Heavy Rain, but i look at Beyond and think "meh"...

Too much focus on visuals and hollywood actors for me.

The story sounds "not-so-good" and the gameplay doesnt really attract me.

I might get it in the end of the year, when its cheap.

Well before they said they wouldn't sell the ps4 at loss.

FoxbatAlpha

Are you confirming another lie by Sony? I'm shocked.

Sony never said it would be selling the console at profit or no loss at all...

They said that the PS4 wont be sold at a major loss:

"Unlike PS3, we are not planning a major loss to be incurred with the launch of PS4. At the time we developed PS3, we made a lot of in-house investments to develop the chip the Cell chip. Development of the chip saw the silicon processing and all the facilities invested by us ourselves.

Yes we have a team working on chip development but we already have existing technology to incorporate and also product investment and all the facilities will now be invested by our partners, other foundries, so we dont have to make all the investment in-house."

I dont see anything new... usually every console is sold at loss.

Losing 60$ per unit instead of 300$ is a huge improvement.

But they will need to sell more than 1 game and 1 plus subscription for the bundles that offer 1 Ds4 (or 1 camera depending on the point of view), if it saves 60$ to the costumer, its 120$ loss instead of 60$ (+/-, im sure the extra acessory in the bundle doesnt cost them the 60$ that costs us)
