Update -- OK, I went to our local Hastings yesterday and asked if I could see the 60GB PS3 mentioned in their ad, and someone brought a box out from in the back. It ** IS ** a 60GB model, and the clerk swears it's new and not refurbished. HOWEVER, I doubt the veracity of this because this clerk, in addition to another clerk there, told me that Sony is still making the 40 and 60 GB models but has discontinued the 80 GB models. I know that's not right! Clerks rarely listen to me when I discuss games and systems though, because I'm an *ahem* older female and they seem to think I can't possibly know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, it is a 60GB model. It's on sale for $449 after rebate and comes with a Sixaxis wireless controller. Whattya think; should I go for it? Get an 80GB model? Wait to see if another, newer, better model comes out any time soon? Advice appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, El_Chavo, that's what the ad said. Gee, I need to go check it out. If it's new and not refurbished, I might get it.

Did anyone else see in the Sunday ad for Hastings, that they have 60 GB PS3s for sale? Does anyone know offhand if these are new or refurbished? You can see the ad here:

http://www.gohastings.com/Catalog/Dept/Stores_str.stm

but the print is pretty small. I know the best way to find out is to go to the store itself, but I just wondered if anyone else knows anything about this. I thought 60GB ones weren't being made anymore. Would this be a good deal, one for $449? Thanks.

How about an RPG like Oblivion? I'm a mom and love video games & computer games. I've been playing for decades! :-)

OK, I think we all realize that many DS games have a word that starts with "D" followed by a word that starts with "S" in their titles. So to make your own personalized game title, put your name, a colon, a random word from Column A, followed by a random word from Column B. For example, my game title would be Mia Smith: Dragon Slime! LOL

Column AColumn B

Deadly Spawn

Dire Sword

Dragon Silence

Daunting Stillness

Dangerous Slime

Desperate Sorrow

Disturbing Struggle

Dark Strife

Demon Spirit

Dangerous Sin

Dynamic Storm

YOU'RE AWESOME!!! Thanks to that link, I found it -- SUMMONER. Says it was released in May of 2001; I thought it was earlier but was obviously wrong. The hero's name was Joseph. THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!

Alas, Planescape Torment isn't it. :-( No talking skull. I'm pretty sure the game I'm thinking of was released in early 2001, maybe Christmastime 2000. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

You start off in your village, which is being burned by invaders. I don't recall being able to create a character; it was kind of like "Here's your character; you're stuck with him."

Hope someone can think of it! :-) One other very minor thing I thought of is that one of the players you controlled later was female and had an awesome spell called "Wall of Fire." Lots of damage to enemies with that one!

When it came out, I played it almost nonstop to keep from thinking about a very stressful situation I was in at the time, and when I finished the game, I sold it because it reminded me of that stressful time. Now the stress is long past and I'd kind of like to play it again. Any help appreciated.

Themeteor is correct. I've read mixed reviews about Eye of the North but I really like it. Some tough battles & beautiful landscapes.

Got to thinking about a game I played years ago and no longer own. Can't think of the name of it to save my life and wondered if any of you knowledgeable folks could help me out. Here's what I remember: It was a single-player RPG released in either late 2000 or, more likely, early 2001. You started off as a low-level guy in a village and worked your way up, and the most memorable thing about the game was that the hero at some point got one of his hands cut off (there was no way to avoid this in the storyline). As the game went on, he teamed up with, I think, three other players whom you then could control. It was all rather railed for an RPG. I think at the end the hero got his hand restored. Any ideas? TIA!!
