Power isn't the only thing people look for in a laptop especially for students. Battery life, resale value, customer support, and dependibility are also important. Lets see, If I spend $1000 on a laptop it better be powerful. You can probably find PCs with better battery life than a mac for half the price. You just have to do a bit of research. and Apple is a very shaddy company when it comes to quality of their products. 4 of my friends bought iTouches and 3 of them had to send theirs in for new ones because of faulty hardware. The headphone jacks were not working correctly only a month after they bought it.That sounds like really bad luck. I haven't had any problems with mine, and I don't use cases or screen protectors, because they ruin the look and thinness of the iPod.[QUOTE="senses_fail_06"][QUOTE="SF_KiLLaMaN"]Getting a mac is such a waste of money. I don't get the appeal. Do you just want to look cool? Are you getting it as a status symbol? A PC can do twice as much and is twice as powerful for half the price of a mac. I say you should seriously think about getting a PC and you can save the rest of your money.SF_KiLLaMaN
As for performance, Apple optimizes their software very well, so it's like having better hardware, except it's not better hardware. It's just better utilized hardware, which makes the performance better. I hope I'm not being confusing. On the flip-side, third-party developers for Mac may not optimize nearly as well as Apple does, so there's a chance third-party software won't run as well as Apple's own software.
