So I finally find out PSN is back online today, at least the online service itself, not the Playstation Network. I decide to startup a Free Roam match in Red Dead. I get an endless loading screen. Why is this? I will note that during the PSN outage I did get a new Linksys e2500 router, which I configured just as my previous AirLink101 router. There should be no issues in configuration. The last online issues I had (which I resolved by turning UpNp off) involved be getting kicked from Free Roam almost instantly upon joining. However, this time around (with UpNp both on and off) I still recieve and endless loading screen. I am not sure it is MY connection at this point. What I would like to know, is if anyone else has experienced this issue lately. Last time around people were getting this issue because of server overloads from the Co-Op DLC. So I have come to three possibilities. 1. Rockstar is either having trouble with their servers or turned them off with the PSN outage and has yet to turn them on. 2. Sony's network service is mostly restored but still has some issues and is not fully restored enough for all games to function alright. and 3. The DLC (seeing as I have all three packs) requires some sort of communication or authentification with the Playstation Store in order to even load up a Free Roam match. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Here is an old post from a different issue, but doing all of what is says SHOULD fix the DNS error 80710102.

Here is the post topic and my post:http://bit.ly/e8PVBV

And here is an actual copy of my post:

First things first, disable media server unless you absolutely need it, searching for an extra service slows the whole system down. Second of all, if you can narrow it down to a router issue, then your ps3 isn't receiving the download right. I would guess you are in one of two situations. 1. You have an OLD router that does not support UpNp or 2. That you have an older router (3-4 years) and it either doesn't have the latest firmware or has very poor UpNp control. For this reason, I suggest you find the appropriate firmware for you router online and apply it. Directionshere. If that doesn't work, disable UpNp through the PS3 network settings and put your PS3 in the DMZ, which is 99.9% safe. Guide for that foundhere. Before you do that, perhaps configuring your network for speed and statically would work best. Here is aguide. Instead of using the two DNS servers the link I just listed tells you, go to this link, run the 100% harmlessprogramon your computer. It is confirmed safehereand you can confirm ithere.Use the top two DNS's from the "Response Time" category, and maybe your router/patch issues will get better. I've had to do a lot of research to get my PS3's online working well, so I hope I can help you too!

By the way, just a quick explanation of what UpNp and the DMZ is. UpNp is a protocol found on most routers that opens ports (which are little network tunnels ranging from 1-65535 about) on the fly in your network if an application or programs needs to do so. Think of it like toll booths in a city that lets people in when they need to come in. The only problem with UpNp is that some applications have trouble communicating with it, or sometimes a whole set of applications, like that used by the PS3. For this reason, UpNp can be helpful, but not always. The DMZ, on the other hand, is a protocol for a certain IP address though a router (like your PS3's) that keeps all ports open at all times. If an application needs to use a port, it doesn't need to communicate with UpNp, it just goes right through. DMZ is 99.9% good on PS3s but 100% bad on PCs. Ports open up way for malicious network traffic, which on a PC, will bypass much of the firewall and infiltrate a computer. However, as long as the DMZ assigned IP address is that of the PS3 ONLY, the PS3 is the only device at risk, and the PS3 is not the target of network villains, so it is not much of a concern. With all of this being said, unless your router has the very newest UpNp software and firmware, the DMZ is usually the more preferable choice. Just make sure though, that either UpNp is on OR the DMZ, not both at the same time, they can cause conflicts with each-other.

Good Luck!

I'll keep this brief. Hard game. I'm on New Game +. I suck. Soul Level: 76. I am trying my hardest, but I need someone with more experience to help me out. If you're close to my soul level, and think you can help sometime in the near future, I'll message you my PSN-ID.

Thanks,

It's a new game, so MM is still fixing some server kinks. Check their Twitter, cause they are well aware players are having issues. Basically, they recommend right now to quit LBP2 to the XMB, log off PSN for a minute, and then log back on and start up the game. That might or might not work, but MM is indeed working on a long-term solution for this particular server issu.

[QUOTE="MGS-Mercenary"]

[QUOTE="lowe0"]What are you going to do? As a PS3 gamer, I recognize that I have a minority platform in the US market, and as such, sometimes I'm not going to be treated as well as 360 gamers. It happens, and since I'm the one that chose to game on PS3, I'm okay with it.Espada12

I like the way you look at it! But at the same time I'm just throwing this poll out for what-ifs.

That's not a good way to look at it IMO. Why just because I have the minority platform would I expect the products to be inferior?

Also a good point. I just liked the way he accepted things as they are, and didn't bother to complain, just state the facts. But #1, I wouldn't call the PS3 a minority platform, just second to the Xbox 360 on the market. And #2, I really do not expect the products to be inferior, which is the point of this topic. I think all systems should be equal with multiplatform games, a dream unlikely to come true. Lowe0 was just very accepting of reality.

[QUOTE="Mkavanaugh77"]Good thing i bought the game for the 360, runs smooth as butter for me. 360 is better rro FPS anywayMkavanaugh77

Hey, while I definitely applaud you for acknowledging the Xbox 360's superiority in this matter at hand, I was really not hoping to turn this into a debate over which console has the better version(obviously the Xbox 360), just a medium to offer opinions on if the PS3's version should be fixed!

Why are you posting this in system wars then?

Well that's a good point, and I apologize for the misunderstanding. The reason I posted this in System Wars is in fear it would be moderated elsewhere. And honestly I didn't intend for this to be a System War, just pointing out some flaws in a PS3 version of a game that the Xbox 360 version doesn't have.
