Things to take in to consideration when being mad at valve....The economy last year the world got in a cluster F*** as far as money is concerned but and for a while it wasn't really effecting the gaming world and then studios start closing and getting purchased and bought out. I'm not saying they aren't being a little greedy but is it wrong for them to cover their butts or would you rather check the gaming news and hear that valve is closing its doors or getting purchased buy EA or worst Activison

webbut

I doubt it and I really do not hope so. If that case is true however I'll attempt to make a big case out of it. I first need some confirmed sources that VALVe is doing bad. Last time I heard they did great.

Feel free not to buy the game, but don't bother the rest of us, Ok?

The effects of a "boycott" are going to be utterly insignificant. Expect L4D2 to be another million seller and expect valve to have a laugh at you and your little angry internet friends.

Meanwhile, shut up about it. I'm not posting all over the internet about every game I'm not going to buy.

Dire_Weasel

Did you even read the post?

Let me quote myself.

"Why don't you just not buy the game?" - As a fan of the first game I am persistent on buying the sequel. However I want it to be good. I am sure that you, the reader of this post, is a fan of some form of a series. I'm certain that you wouldn't be too happy if the producer of the series gave out some crap that ruined everything.

And for your second acquisition: Well, personally I think that VALVe is a great game-developing company. They have almost always delivered. However a game too similar to the first one won't have as many players online - this could mean less future third party support and sponsors. This again means a lower budget for future games like HL2:EP3 and Portal 2.

And for the third one: I'm simply explaining to people like you exactly WHY we are boycotting, so you don't go all *quote above* on us - exactly what you just did.

Before I start I'd like to say that I'm writing this thread not to convince people to join, but simply to inform them about the boycott. Many people seem to say "y r u guys boicotting y not just not bye the game" (Real quote by anonymous)

I am aware that the game is the unfinished product, but VALVe are supposed to finish bug-testing in august, a mere two months from now, with 1 month spare time to be on the safe side. After that the game will ship to stores around the world and to reviewers. I reckon that not even VALVe can make quality in under a year.

As of it being an unfinished product I'm not really to say anything until I've tried it myself. But seeing what I've seen I can clearly say it won't live up to my requirements.

The reasons I think it won't be a success are:

Bad voice acting. (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-left-4-dead/50554)

They removed the b-movie clique st(y)le everyone loved.

Re-used models.

Same system, only upgrade to the engine is that it now has AI director 2.0 instead of 1.5 - this now controls the weather.

Same system means (excluding 4 melee weapons and 4 new special infected) similar to same weapons, only with new models/skins. Same infected, again just new models and skins. Same goes for maps, scripted scenes, radio system, destructibility, optimization e.t.c.

Videos on the so called "finished beta" are full of glitches (http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-left-4-dead/50357)

A few animations look stiff

I could go on for a while, and probably fill out an entire book with places of improvement.

- It's basically more like a mod or DLC - and what's the point of the new maps when the L4D SDK beta is out, and the custom campaign soon will be out. There are a few pros with this game, but not nearly enough to call it a new game. The list of improvements can be fit into a single word page.

I just want this game delayed so that VALVe can re-think and re-create a new experience that is more enjoyable with higher quality. I hope I clarified a few things there, enjoy the summer vacation. Razz.

Valve, you're great - don't screw this one up. For the community. For the fans.

Dan.
