How is C&C not a 'real' RTS? Last time I checked, it was in that categorized in that genre. I don't know about Halo Wars though, because I never cared enough to even check it out.

MadVybz

Those are 'pretend' RTSs if you will. Look at Halo Wars. A good concept, but the awkwardness of the controller ruined it.

'Pretend' RTS? In case you didn't know, it's the GAME that is categorized in the genre, not the controller.

Whether you like it or not, it's an RTS. It's like saying fighting games on the PC aren't real fighters because of the awkwardness of a keyboard. It's just a BS excuse to annoy people.

The way the game was programmed was limited by the console and so could not become a proper RTS. Also, the keyboard is not awkward; rather the controller is when playing FPSs

Forgive my n00b-ness, but doesn't RTS stand for Real Time Strategy? As in Command & Conquer and Halo Wars? Which happen to be on consoles?

MadVybz

Those aren't real RTS games.

[QUOTE="rmfd341"][QUOTE="Lukergamer"][QUOTE="Gammit10"] What? I just finished playing Dead Space on my PC a few hours ago.

(As in Dead space Extraction)

No you noob. Dead Space 2.

First of all, I meant to include a ? mark after 'extraction' and secondly DS2 has not been confirmed OR denied for PC.

I really don't understand that mentality given the fact that console gaming offers a more broad selection of genres. Perhaps its the pride in being able to build one's own "gaming console" so-to-speak.

MarcusAntonius

Have you ever seen an RTS for a console that actually works well?

Reread what I posted, clearly you missed something.

You said that the console has a wider selection of genres - i mentioned the fact that RTSs and TSs are not availible on consoles

I think the real problem is that PC gamers feel incredibly marginalized by the sweeping popularity of consoles and now possess an overt need to differentiate themselves from the console gamer, who they have targeted as a lower-level, less refined gamer.

NFS:S is a game that I so much wanted to like. I nearly cried whilst playing it, because this is a game that doesn't know what it is. It is supposed to be an 'easy' introduction to the racing genre for new players; yet the oversteer is emphasised too much and handling is horrible. The car over/understeers even with the settings all set to grip. The Maserati that you can loan was horrible. In fact; the best handling car that there is is probably the first car that I bought; the Tier 1 Seat. I do not suggest this game; as it doesn't know if it is a hardcore racer or an introduction to the genre. NFS should have stuck to what they know.

1.) Midas Magic for Oblivion

2.) Enclave Commander for Fallout 3

3.) Lightsaber hilt mod for KOTOR 2

4.) Warhammer 40K overhaul for the previously mentioned Enclave Commander

5.) Arena mod for Fallout 3 (the one which adds a house with an arena in the basement)
