Crysis 2 on Nintendo 3DS

by on

Now that we've established 3DS's graphics are somewhat comparable to a PS3 or an Xbox 360, does this mean we may some day see Crysis on Nintendo's new 3D handheld? Or perhaps a different Crysis, or even an exclusive one at that?

What do you think? It could happen.

Finally decided on the general specs for my new computer

by on

After two years of deciding what the successor to my current PC would have, I finally decided (in general) on the following:

Case: Azza Hurrican 2000 Full Tower

CPU: i7 950

GPU: Palit GTX 460 800mhz overclocked

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth X58 (2x x16 PCIE 2.0 slots)

RAM: 6GB DDR3/1600MHz

HDD: 1TB SATA "III" 6gb/s

PSU: Corsair CMPSU-950TX 80 Plus Power Supply (950 watts)

Optical: Asus BC-08B1LT 8X Blu-Ray Player & DVDRW Combo

OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

This should last me another 7 or so years. Got plenty of room for new hard drives. Shouldn't be too difficult to swap for new video card in about three years or get another 460 (which would probably need to be soon since 560's on the way, and I worry that the 460 won't be around much longer after that).

Guess the new PC will have to wait

by on

Still can't decide between Intel and AMD. Also, I'm waiting on UEFI to become standard on motherboards because I hear that with them we'll be able to cross the 2TB hard drive barrier, which is very important to me. Also, the new Radeons are on the way, probably in a couple of months. So I guess I'll skip the Black Friday sales and just wait on the new Radeons. Perhaps Nvidia will also release some new high-end cards to compete. And for this, no matter which route I take, I should probably wait. Must have patience.

Weird Dream About the 3DS

by on

Had a weird dream last night. There was a tree frog on a lilly in a pond. It looked straight at me and jumped away. And where it was once standing was a 3DS. I was then treated to the two screens lighting up. The top screen said "Nintendo 3DS" and just before the bottom screen started showing gameplay, I woke up.

Really weird, not sure what it means.

HD 5850 or GTX 460? i7 or Phenom II?

by on

I plan on buying a new computer (or maybe even build one) by the end of the year, but I just can't decide between these two cards. Also having trouble deciding between an i7 930/940 or Phenom II X4 955/965.

I'm finding more AM3 motherboards that support Crossfire than I do SLI, and the AM3 boards I find that support SLI still only have SATA-II (3gb/s) and USB 2.0 while the Crossfire motherboads support SATA-III (6gb/s) and USB 3.0. Ideally I'd like to get SATA-III and USB 3.0, too.

Problem is I'm thinking about Phenom II X4 955 and GTX 460 1GB. I'll want to SLI them some day, but my motherboard choices limit me to SATA-II and USB 2.0. I guess I need to search harder then. Surely there's got to be some AM3 SLI motherboards (dual x16) that support USB 3.0 and SATA-III.

And the search continues...

Beat New Super Mario Bros. Wii

by on

Just beat New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Go me. Great throwback to the old days of sidescrolling Mario games. Now all I gotta do is make sure I get all the big coins. I hope I can go back and get them from the airships since they took off. Hopefully the first time through isn't the only time you can get those. That would suck. Because if I ever plan on getting them all, I'll have to do it again from the start. Oh well.

Take a break, and get back to Dragon Quest 9. Not very far yet, so I really need to get on it.

Enjoying the Wii

by on

Well, now I have all the systems except for the 360: Wii, PS3, DS, PSP. Whoever says the Wii sucks maybe didn't give it much a chance. I'm having a blast with New Super Marios. Wii and Wii Sports Resort. Not every game has to be an epic masterpiece to be enjoyable. There is still fun to be had with the simple older-style games out there.

I recommend the Wii for all gamers.

P.S. I recommend using an older CRT SDTV unless you have a really nice HDTV.
