FF 8 is a great game, besides the whore-ish GF spamming in the beginning of the game since your attacks won't do much good unless you junction them well, the monster leveling up with you (not that i'm completely against it, since you'll keep it as a challenge throughout the game, but i'm used to training and pwning, :P )
The story is pretty good, not the best. Some parts are really stupid though like the [spoiler] Part in the lighthouse where Squall and the others find out they ALL LIVED in the same orphanage. Too fairy-taleish for me. [/spoiler] Other than that it was pretty cool, don't get the hate on Squall though (he's kinda similar to Cloud on the quiet straight to the point personality) but the difference is you can actually see Squall changing much more clearly, adds up to the experience. Soundtrack is awesome in my honest opinion. Always at the right time and I just like it. I did love the SeeD concept and just wished there were more missions for it (kinda like my feeling I also got about the sphere hunting in FF X-2) Not to mention Laguna's dreams. Laguna FTW :P The thing is, it was followed by the shadow of FF VII, causing it to be kind of underappreciated.
