I have about six different cables from various resellers with an average price of about $10, excluding my noob Monster Cable purchase. All of these cables are 3 meters or less and I can see absolutely no difference in quality. These were all tested in a Pioneer 1080p Kuro.

Hi, all. Looking to uprade to SSDs in RAID 0, but I don't have any experience with them. I understand the utility of the technology and MLC SSDs have much more space for the price whereas SLC disks have a greater performance improvement, but typically are much more expensive than MLC for the same size disk. So my question for anyone who has preferably used both technologies, is the performance of SLC disks substantial enough over MLCs to warrant the cost? At present I'm torn between a total of 256 GB of MLC or only 64 GB of SLC disk for the same price - Obviously I'd be much more limited in what I could run on the SLC disk so are they worth it? Any advice is appreciated.

Sure - most speaker wire is cmpatible with any audio equipment. Some ultra-high end A/V equipment have audio connections that require special wire, but the components you've specified will work fine together. Have fun!

Hello, all. I'm looking for a particular chess set (chess board, actually) and I was hoping some of you fine people could help me. I recently laid eyes on this beautiful board which we be perfect for a chess set I am designing. Sadly, said board is not for sale and, as it was given as a gift, the owner does not know where it was purchased. I've searched online, but cannot find anything that even resembles it. I've included samples of the pieces in case anyone could identify it that way. If anyone could point me in the right direction, or at least recommend a similar, available board, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

From what I understand, these high-def inputs can only be achieved through an HDMI cable. I believe you still need a amp/receiver which decodes these formats to act as a conduit from your PS3 to your television. the receiver is obviously where your 5.1/7.1 speaker setup will be connected. A t least that is the way I have mine setup with a new Onkyo reciever capable of decodeing the high-def audio formats. My previous setup included a Yamaha receiver which only decoded standard DD and DTS. I'm not sure if a standard receiver with HDMI inputs will output the high-def formats. As for 5.1 vs 7.1, from my experience 7.1 surround is excessive and not really an improvement over 5.1. Then there is the trouble finding room to fit all the speakers and/or mounting them. If you have the space and the loot, go for it, otherwise you're not missing much.

In my limited dabbling in MMORPGs, I admit that I've purchased "gold" or its equivalent in other MMOs and found that it really just helped get me through some sticking points while leveling - I found that I could not devote enough time to the game while my character was in its infancy, and I would lose interest before grinding enough to get to a level where the game became more fun to play. I don't think it necessarily gives anyone an edge over another player - you still need to develop skill in the playing the game, which can only be obtained through actually playing the game. If goldfarmers are actually hurting sales of a particular title or pissing people off enough to stop playing the game in large numbers, again leading to decreased sales (see where this is going?), then I suppose it is a bad thing. But if people want to spend their own, non-virtual cash to essesntially enhance their online experience without the use of hacks, then I don't see anything inherently wrong with that.

Yeah, that's what it looks like if you have the proper hardware to render it at very high settings.

Hi all. I've recently purschased a beautiful 42" Pioneer plasma to fully showcase my PS3 and complement my 5.1 surround setup. I have an aging Yamaha receiver which has served me well but now I am intrigued by the True Dolby Digital and uncompressed PCM sound formats that my Blu-ray movies and some PS3 games are capable of putting out. But before I invest in a new receiver capable of decoding these formats (avg price $1500) I wondering if I will notice a difference with my surround setup which are Klipsch Quintet III speakers. They are satellite speakers, 4 surround and a center channel and 10" sub. I just don't know if I would need to invest in a beefier setup including tower speakers in order to take full advantage of next-gen sound. Any suggestions are appreciated.

[QUOTE="uRan_Ehr"]2001: A Space Oddysse (don't know the real English name ;)) has got a great quality for it's age. The movie is from 1968 :) And as someone already said: GoodFellas got a very poor quality. Some upscaled DVD's look better.voodoothe2nd

In English it's 2001: A Space Odyssey. That's in Blu-Ray?!? That's old... I prefered 2010 because it explained more about the story, but for the large time gap between the making of both movies I don't remember seing much of a difference visually...

I've heard that animated stuff is better for showing the contrast and colours of your TV, don't one so I can't really recommend anything. Though I would love to see The Clone Wars battle! Star Wars episode 2 I think?

I actually have Ep 2: Attack of the Clones on DVR and it looks fantastic. The highlights are the chase through Coruscant toward the beginning of the film, the skirmish between Obi Wan and Boba Fett in the asteroid field and of course the various clone solldier battle scences and the attacks against the Jedi. This is a DVR recording through Comcast which I assume is upscaled a HD recording on Blu-ray or HD-DVD does not yet exist - not sure if a proper transfer would look sharper. It does look much better than the upscaled result of my standard def version. I've seen Ep 1, 2 & 3 in HD and teh second looks the best by far.
