A week or two ago I went to a movie, which was created because of the popularity of the series. Yes, the blog title already revealed it, but what the heck: The Simpsons Movie.

All in 2D, how is that possible? But Matt Groening and cast managed to pull it off! *applaudes*
Just a quick note before reading: Watch this movie in its original language: OV (original version). This is what makes the movie so funny. Anyway, on to the real deal.
Run! Run! Run! Run! Run! Run! Jump! Jump! Land! Land! Rest! Rest!
The Simpsons Movie was the real deal all right. It sets an example of how all comedy movies should be. Voices like the ones from Dan Castellaneta (Homer Simpsons and such), Julie Kavner (Marge Simpson) and Nancy Cartwright (Lisa and such) bring the whole Simpsons ambience all back again. And that's a good thing, because it wouldn't be The Simpsons if they were not there to do the voice overs.
The film begins with a natural 20th Century Fox sign, but this time an unannounced guest pops up and sings along. Now who would that be? Only one way to find out...
When the real movie begins, you immediatety recognize the statement I made earlier: it's in 2D, like the series itself. And it's a good thing, just imagine how it would look like in 3D. Just look on the internet, and you'll see that even the jokes wouldn't help this movie, but to flop. But of course, first, The Simpsons OST. duuuududududududududududu... I'm not that good in humming, so I'll leave the rest to you. But it wouldn't be the Simpsons without this theme. And after that, the story begins:
It goes as follows: Springfield is pollution. Garbage goes into the water supply and... well.. garbage goes into the water supply. The mayor finally takes action and he permits anyone to dump their garbage into the river, with a little persuasion from Lisa, who happened to find her soulmate, while informing all inhabitants. (Not again!?) In the meantime, Homer Simpson decides to save a pig and bring it back home, calling him Spider-Pig and later on Harry Plopper. When Marge asks him where he left all its faeces he shows her a big metal tin can. Marge tells him to get rid of it and what do you know, he 'accidentally' dropped it in the river making the water more polluted than it is. The President of the United States, Arnold Schwarzenegger realizes that it has to be stopped and so he contacted one of his ministers, an evil one if I might say. The minister presented him with a couple of options which he lays on the table. The President randomly picks one of them without reading them. 'I was elected to lead, not to read' he said in a Schwarzenegger voice. So an almost indestructable bowl has been cast upon them, so they will be isolated from the outside world. The Simpsons are being chased at, find a way out of the bowl and arrive in Canada. And that's where you'll have to watch for yourself.
All Simpsons characters play a part in this marvellous movie!
Although the story is not its strongest point, that's not something of the essence here. We all know that an action movie is great when it has a lot of action, while having a reasonable or bad storyline e.g. Transformers. Same goes to The Simpsons movie, bad storyline, but great comedy. Its jokes are infinitive. They keep generating and you keep laughing, especially as a Simpsons fan you'll surely enjoy it. And if you're not a Simpsons fan, do not be afraid, it's a comedy and it's even more entertaining for you, as a non-Simpsons fan, because you go with low expectations. High or low, it doesn't matter, you'll enjoy it one way or another. Great quality and quantity jokes, the Simpsons way.
The sound was very good, the original voices were in sync with the characters when they were opening their mouthes. Not to mention that the music and theme song make this movie even more enjoyable. But what's more to the sound were the dialogues, which were sometimes intriguing, but mostly funny. It's definitely something to look out for.

Summarized: Having a bad time, planning to go to the movies, going on a date, not having laughed for 10 years? Go to The Simpsons Movie. Even Tom Hanks played a role in it. And we all know Tom Hanks movies are great. If the jokes can't entertain you, you surely are no human and if you are certain you are, you cannot be saved. Recommendable to everyone, but I do warn you: You will see a Johnson for a second, so if you are afraid of those, don't go.
