Mass Effect 3 & Linkin Park

by on

WOW, it's been awhile since I blogging here. I guess ever since Facebook I stopped blogging altogether.

***Possible Spoiler***

About my title, I recently found that the new Linkin Park single, "Burn It Down" could be inspired from the March 2012 hit game Mass Effect 3, especially the first part of the song.

Here it is (ME3 reference in bracket):

The cycle repeated (Reapers' cycle of harvesting)
As explosions broke in the sky (Reapers attacking civilizations and planets)
All that I needed
Was the one thing I couldn't find (Shepard finding The Catalyst)
And you were there at the turn
Waiting to let me know (Prothean VI)

We're building it up (building war assets)
To break it back down (take the fight to the Reapers)
We're building it up
To burn it down
We can't wait
To burn it to the ground

The colors conflicted (The ending)
As the flames, climbed into the clouds
I wanted to fix this (Bioware's extended cut)
But couldn't stop from tearing it down (Still got bashed by fans)
And you were there at the turn
Caught in the burning glow
And I was there at the turn
Waiting to let you know

5 stuffs I look forward to for the rest of 2010

by on

E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) has ended last month, showcases about video games is done and many interesting games are shown there... But five games really caught my eyes, I made a top 5 list of stuff. The list is mainly PS3 because I owned at PS3, not Xbox 360, so don't bash me 360 fanboys... Here are the list:

1.) Gran Turismo 5

The game is finally here. Not exactly here, but what I meant is the release date here... As I watched the briefing about the PS3 and the games, Sony exec showed the trailer for the game and a release date at the end of it. It got cheers from the crowd because people have been waiting for the game since 2005 and no date has been given every time they show a snippet... If the date is true (2nd November 2010), you might find me collecting cars and licenses with over 1000 of them for a while... ;p

2.) Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

I love Assassin's Creed, I just love the gameplay and the story. The story is about a man, who has the DNA of the Assassins Order, traveled back in time through his DNA and experience what his ancestors experienced. During the game, he discovered there was a war that he never knew even existed, the war between the Templars and Assassins, which also involved many famous people throughout the history, including Genghis Khan, Henry Ford, Nicolai Tesla and many others... I can't wait who will I meet up next, alternate history game couldn't be more interesting than this.

3.) PlayStation Move

It is not a game, I know I know... Based on the Wii success on their Wiimote, Sony decided to fight back with a improved concept based on it, that is the Wiimote. What is different from the Wii is that the Move has a camera (PlayStation Eye) and LED balls on top of the Move. Sony said that will offer more precision than the Wii. Based on the video people recorded with them demo-ing during E3, it did look more closer to 1:1 than the Wii. My sister is very interested with the PlayStation Move as she might not need to buy a Nintendo Wii and buy the Move instead. But I still have doubts for it, but who knows?!

4.) Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit

A game series I finally interested again after years of failures with experimentations with the game mechanics. This entry of the series is developed by Criterion Games, which is famed for it's Burnout series (another racing game). This version is back to the ****people loved years back, involving exotic cars, beautiful locales and adrenaline pumping cop chase scene, just like Hollywood. With Criterion at helm, this could be a blast.

5.) Crysis 2

Another processor hungry game, the first game is so hungry to process graphics it could literally make a PS3 and Xbox 360 melt, only a highly customizable PC with the highest-end specification could make the cut, the rest is bye bye. This time the developers created a new engine that could satisfy Xbox 360, PS3 and lower end PCs playing on beautiful graphics. With the open world gameplay set in the Big Apple, this could be interesting...

Sony's Marketing in Asia (particularly Malaysia) is a success

by on

Why would I say that? As you know, video gaming in Asia is pretty much dominated by pirates. Ever since, gaming landed in Asia, there are fake cartridges, fake cds, fake dvds...

In my country, Malaysia, the number of softwares (genuine) sold for PS2, XBOX, PSP and Gamecube are zero, no ones buy games. Video games store in Malaysia sold pirated games for RM5, which is US$1.50 a copy and police and government officers don't care and they walked by the store like they know nothing.

In this generation, where PS3 still have no pirated softwares, which could spell doom in Malaysia market where everybody will buy pirated stuff. Even the local press predicted that PS3 will not well received by Malaysians than 360 or Wii or even the old PS2 where the pirates are everywhere. In the end, PS3 sold more than 360 and Wii like the PS2 era and PS1 era, dominating. Sony has convinced gamers in Malaysia to buy genuine products to play games and Malaysians are willing to spend more money on gaming than ever before.

The PlayStation brand in Asia and Malaysia has become a household name. In Malaysia, everyone calls consoles PlayStation, no matter which console it is. I remembered one time I visited my cousin's house, where he has Xbox 360 in his living room, when this gen just started. His friend came over and said, "Woah, you got a PlayStation?", "Put that disc into the PlayStation"...

No wonder Sony are not in a worry state that they are losing the US market share, their market in Asia is like a fortress to them.

Wished Crash Bandicoot is still at Naughty Dog

by on

I am playing Uncharted 2 now, I think the game is fantastic. Then, when I was resting on my bed thinking of the game, I said to myself 'wish Crash Bandicoot was developed by ND today...'

Seriously, I think the last Crash Bandicoot game I really enjoy is Crash Team Racing, which is the last ND developed Crash game. The rest is just like okay or meh...

I really miss the game a lot. If Naughty Dog start making the series, it will be great...

Happy Birthday PS2!!!

by on

I love my PS2, that's pretty much what I say about my beloved console... I buy all Sony's consoles for all these generations (not because I am a fanboy, Sony's console is pretty much what we have here), the consoles I love the most is the PS2, with huge gaming library, i mean really really huge... Many of those games are very good.

I got my PS2 back in 2004, when I got good grade for my exam, my father bought it for me as a gift. Even though I played less PS2 exclusives than my friends, I pretty much pulled into Gran Turismo 4, where I spent a lot of time unlock all those cars and get good results for my license test.

But some of my craziest moments are GTA: San Andreas and Burnout 3: Takedown. My cousin and I pretty much spending our gaming time together finding all those secret packages, minigames completion and some ridiculous cheats on SA. With Burnout 3: Takedown, some of my friends even stayed at my house for days to try to beat each other crash records and road rage records...

Now, even though I moved on to PS3 right now, PS2 still holds a special place in my heart, and also many gamers' heart...

Let's share all your PS2 moments together...

Almost got my first Platinum trophy

by on

Well, it's been more than a month since my PS3 purchase and my Asssassin's Creed 2 almost reach platinum trophy. For me, I think Assassin's Creed 2 trophies is very easy to get than other games like Killzone and GTA... There are 3 more trophies before I get to Platinum:

Vitruvian Man: Unlock all Subject Sixteen's video
I almost complete this trophy, just left some signs in Venice and some puzzles to solve, now looking for those I have no idea with.

Show Your Colors: Wear Auditore Cape in each City
This is also an easy trophy to get, but first I need to get all 100 feathers in order to get the Auditore Cape from Ezio's mother.

In Memory of Petruccio: Collect all feathers
I have a lot of feathers to collect, I just managed to collect 15 feathers during the storyline progresses... Now I have to find all in order to get this trophy and the one above

Got PS3

by on

I got PS3 already thanks to my dad, who bought it for me. I got myself 1 game, that is Assassin's Creed 2 and borrowed Grand Theft Auto IV from my cousin. I also bought HDMI cable for my HDTV.

I have so much fun with the system now and I have downloaded some demos into my PS3, like GT 5 Time Trial Challenge, FIFA 10, LBP and NBA 10.

Gotta go now, I just finished gaming with my PS3 and needed some rest and walk in my area... See ya
