yes and a gain of >1 fps constantly very rarely does preformance improve in fact its practically non-existant. the returns arent worth the investment

both tomshardware and maximumpc have done research into this (maximum used ddr2, toms used ddr3) the result was the same and going about 12fps we saw the problem get worse from maximumpc's results (id get u scans but is 8pm libraries are basically closed and i have no flatbed scanner)

out my --- eh?

rock .. paper

benchmarks:

0.3fps in favor of 6gb

WiC:

1fps in favor of 6gb

itunes: no change

audi cd playback: no change

3d max video render: no change

anti-virus scan: no change

by and large to go form 6gb ro 12 you wind up with roughly .15% more preformance.. and at 40 bucks or so to make the upgrade how much do you value less than 1fps difference in basically all games and less than 33 points in synthetic benchmarks or ~0.09 seconds less on everyday applications

in short 40 bucks for no change thats whats your dumping your money on.. nothing. in fact going from 3 to 6 is even a hard sell but at that point you still have a hard drive based paging file and 64-bit windows hasnt been put to use yet. and some games take advantage of 4gb so yeah.

now will you cease these intolerable messages sent via your keyboard??

You quote Tom's = you fail. They know nothing.

[QUOTE="ionusX"] you actually lose an fps now and again.. you may not whine heck most wouldnt but you do in fact in certain cases or engines (cryengine 2 for example) see a loss of 1fps sometimes 2. fluid benchmarks also note this loss vantage scores can drop up to 450 points

Loss of 1fps sometimes....

But there is always that little bit of doubt in the back of your mind, im sure religious people dont have this doubt because they have faith in their god. But as an athiest how can you be a hundred percent sure there is no creator? do you put your faith in science? are you telling me you could be on your death bed, taking your last breath and not once think, what if?..

[QUOTE="topgunmv"]

I'm looking to do some incremental upgrades to my system, starting with memory.

This is my motherboard, rampage iii extreme.

This is my current memory, corsair dominator 3 sticks at 2gb each, running in triple channel mode at 1600mhz.

My processor is an i7 950.

My question is, if I buy another 6 gig set of the same memory (for a total of 12 gb), will I be able to run it all in triple channel mode at 1600 mhz?

Am I going to have to bump my qpi voltage a ton or change the timings to get it to work?

Thanks man. I'll fiddle with it when I can. :D

Also, make sure you lower the crossover frequency on the flexbass to improve performance on headphones.

The what now?

Where would those settings be at?

Sorry. When you open the Xonar control panel you should see a button at the bottom called Flexbass". Set the frequency slider to 50hz and the headphone button to large. Great music through headphones....
