The title is self-explanatory, I wanna know what are the elements of an RPG that keep you hooked throughout, that motivate you to go through such a long experience, and what are the deal-breakers? For instance, if you find the story and writing lackluster but other aspects shining, would you keep playing? and vice versa

I want this to be more about the RPG genre and of course, its sub-genres like Action RPG, but you can talk about any long-ass experience, like Open-worlds, feel free to weigh in on your motivators for such experiences.

I think that I enjoy the length of the game it can bring and the choices you make. As a busy person, I don't find time to play games online. RPG's allow me to just come and go as I please.

How about a remaster of Crimson Skies, or even one of the original Socom games? Pitfall wouldn't hurt either.

I think Ghost Recon games have very unresponsive controls (as in when you turn around it takes a few seconds to do so, press fire gun button and it isn't immediate). I also think that the time it takes to get out a weapon, etc, and the cute little time circle meter is somewhat ridiculous. And, as a non HDTV owner (not sure how big a difference it is though) it's very hard to tell how far away things are, and ultimately just feels scrappy running around the maps. There's just way too many crappy looking trees with dark shadows and you never feel nearly as immersed as you would in a nice, responsive GeOW MP match.

Just wondering if anybody feels the same way about GRAW 1 and 2. Not complaining about the "slow pace" the series is supposed to have; slow paced shooters are fine, but it just feels so scrappy!

No, I think the controls are fine and realistic in my experience. I know I have read where others feel the same way as you however. It's weird going from RB6 Vegas to GRAW and seeing how fast the GRAW player moves compared to the Vegas player. The Vegas player is actually slower.

i thought it sounded amazing too at first but since its a love or hate it game i would rent it if i were you so you dont waste $60 if you do actually hate it.Spartan874
Not sure if you knew, but for people that use the white background for the forums can't see your Wii Code and nick name because your font is white. They have to highlight it with their cursor in order to read it. Just thought I would let ya know.

i personally hated Dead Rising. it gets so boring REALLY fast. ive heard really good things about Viva Pinata and i plan on getting it soon.Spartan874
I never really did state my preference. I too would go with Viva if I had to choose between the two. I really like it, even though I haven't had much time to play it with every new game coming out for the 360 has been rocking my socks off.

[QUOTE="Hedon_1"][QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"][QUOTE="Hedon_1"][QUOTE="X360NowPS3Later"]But....it's stupid. Microsoft wastes so much money by having so many consoles returned, and so many people scared away from buying it.BioShockOwnz
Well, it's only in the 3-5% ratio. So since 95% of them are fine, I don't think they are losing all the match money. I think they even have an extra 40 billion laying around.

I still don't buy that it's only 3-5%.

It's against the law to state otherwise to the shareholders and public. It's illegal, and the Better Business Bureau can instill hefty fines in lawsuits if the opposite were true.

I already let the BBB know about my situation. I have been through 6. They all had good ventilation, and had a fan by them to keep it from overheating. That is ridiculous.

I don't argue that at all. You probably did experience that. I myself went through 4 PS2's which was frustrating as heck as well. But my 360 runs 24 hours a day with no issues and runs quiet (with a little hum).

[QUOTE="dmb34"]most people that post about the 360 are people who are wanting to rant and make themselves feel better cause their console quit working. Therefore giving the impression that lots of 360 are breaking down but you cant look at it that way. There have been over 10 mill 360 sold so if everyone's was breaking down there would be a recall issued which has not happened. I know a few people with launch 360 that work fine today.[QUOTE="V4LENT1NE"][QUOTE="CaUs3"]ya if every would post on forums that it worked it would be floodedV4LENT1NE

So why arent all the other console forums flooded with complaints.........only 360 as far as I can tell.

Indeed but you didnt realise what I was saying, why is it only the 360 forum that gets flooded with these and has its own stickfy for broken machines, two have broke on me with faulty graphics chips, and a friend of mine cant get his 360 to stay on without constantly crashing from disk read errors and a guy on my friends list a few weeks ago had to get his replaced...........The 360 is far from normal in terms of faulty hardware.

Well, we had the same stickys with the PS2, Xbox 1 and now the PS3 at the playstation.com forum has the same sticky with numerous problems.
