For me, it's Max Payne 3 so far. I love the gritty feel of the game.

Hi all,

those of you who have seen some of my other posts will know that i am crazy about Dark Souls (i have not even played Demons Souls yet). It has without a doubt - transformed my gaming life - i will never have the same experience with ANY OTHER GAME again because there has basically been a major phase-change in how i now look at video gaming. As far as i am concerned, Dark Souls is now the game against which all others must be judged - and as such has caused me to rethink every other gaming opportunity out there.

A good recent example is Borderlands 2. Without Dark Souls in my life i would have rushed out to buy this hot new game - but im now indifferent to it.

Im trying to move my topics on a little so can anyone give me an example of another game - which changed everything for you? Which game and when and why?

Maybe with some inspiration and left field thinking i can move on from Dark Souls......Let it rip guys!

mickyplankon

Same for me, except it started with Demon's Souls, I have put easily over 300hrs into it. Just continued from there with Dark Souls where I have put in almost another 300hrs.

OK, I'm 30 hours into Dark Souls and am in Anor Londo. I'm at the part where you go up a flight of stairs (outside) and there are 2 giant knights, then you have to make a right and a left, go down a flight of stairs and there are two gargoyle(?) enemies who fly around.

Now, my problem is I prefer playing as an archer and I currently have no arrows. Well, that's a major problem, as it gets rid of my main playstyle.

So, my question is where can either find arrows or a vendor without having to go all the way across the game world?

Also, did I make a bad choice by going in as an archer? Should I just suck it up and start over as more of a melee character?

You will never finish this game as an archer. You need to find a good sword and start leveling up your strength, endurance, vitality immediately or more than likely you will get stuck. Being you have reached Anor Londo, you will be losing a tremendous amount of progress if you restart.

So it's been years since I've visited the Gamespot forums; I actually forgot my older account's details. All those earned emblems and signatures and 'achievements' from yesteryear... gone. Anyway, a lot of time has gone by, things have changed and I digress. The reason for my return is, amusingly enough, what I feel to have been a bad purchase. Bad purchase of what was hailed 'Game of The Year', bad purchase of a game that has received across-the-board praise and high scores from many a respected critic. I am referring to 2011's The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. I want point out that when I buy a game that has been released on multiple platforms, I rate it exclusively on the merits of its performance (or lack thereof) on whatever rig I am playing it on - in this case the Xbox 360. So. What has bothered me about Skyrim on the Xbox 360? Well (and I know this will be considered by many a veteran gamer to be a shallow jab at such a game) I genuinely believe it is the ugliest Xbox 360 game I have EVER played, with textures that rival those of the very first Silent Hill game released for the Playstation 1 in 199X. I am not trolling. This game time and time again just downright appalls me at times. From character and creature models, to item models, to walls and environment textures... EVERYTHING in this game looks muddy, washed out and pixelated. The foliage I attempt examine for potential ingredients just looks god damn horrifying. I am aware of the texture streaming issues causes by an install - but I am running this game off my brand new Xbox 360 Slim 4GB, off the disk no less. How has no one else mentioned this? How is 2006's Oblivion graphically ahead of its supposed successor? It really boggles the mind how such low-res textures could find their way into the final product. Does anyone else feel this way? I know a game is supposed to be the sum of its parts, but I feel Skyrim's graphics detract too much from the overall experience. Or maybe recent innovations in graphics technology have made me more aware of games that have graphics that are less-than-stellar. I don't know. Maus EDIT: I can't seem to split up my post into reasonably sized paragraphs. FU HTML. FU.Mausingen

You want amazing console graphics? Go play God of War 3, Uncharted 2&3, Killzone 2&3, Metal Gear Solid 4 on Sony Playstation 3.

Ok, I'll lower my standards a little, it doesn't have to be an mmo. RickeyBobby13

Dark Souls, it has PvP and PvE and lots of looting and monsters to slay. You can also troll people and invade just for the hell of it over and over.
