Easily Alien Isolation in my opinion. Some consider it to be too frustrating at times though.

I would appreciate a fix as well, as the only thing that helped me is the unpopular reboot.

Edit: I found a fix for STEAM games at least. Many games don't properly quit, but you can also shut down STEAM streaming itself. I managed to get into the STEAM menu by holding one of the menu buttons I think.

Not free, but I can recommend the following games:

Ridge Racer Unbounded

Flatout 1,2 and Ultimate Carnage

Blur

Split/Second

Redout

Driver San Francisco

BlazeRush

Sonic & All Stars Transformed

The Trackmania Series (Turbo being the newest)

Hiya, your post resonated with me as a Biochemistry PhD. I haven't found many "scientifically accurate" games, but I can recommend SpaceChem and Sokobond for their portrayal of chemical molecules. I also hear great things about Plague Inc: Evolved and Kerbal Space Program for their portrayal of microbiology and physics respectively.

Great suggestions so far. I'd like to throw in Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Helldivers and Towerfall.

It seems to play an awful lot like Warsow, which is a good thing in my book. I'm glad to see that arena shooters are making a comeback.

@G-Lord: I'm rocking an X52 Pro, a Logitech G13 for direct mapping of extra functions (i.e. landing gear, lights, cargo scoop, etc), Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals, three Dell U2711 27" 2560x1440 IPS monitors, and a TrackIR 5. The DK2 is the only thing I'm missing.

Damn, that is an impressive setup... I'm not sure if I would take the DK2 over 3 nice monitors, as the text is really hard to read. One of the best things of the Rift in Elite is the ability to freely look around, but you also got that covered with the TrackIR.

I got my DK2 last week, and I wouldn't like to give it away anymore. The development community is constantly releasing new stuff for the Rift and it's exciting to test new demos. Project Cars and Elite Dangerous are amazing in Rift mode too. Still, if you want a hassle-free experience, I'd say you should wait for the consumer version.

what do you mean with hassle free.

Configuring is not really a hassle to me, sounds more like fun to me :)

What my worry is, is the latency, will the latency be less on the consumer version?

what are you're thoughts about the latency on the dk2?

Nobody knows 100% for sure, but I ordered one because I figure the consumer one is at least a year away. Even if I eventually replace it with the consumer version, $350 for a year's worth of enjoyment is worthwhile to me so I won't consider it wasted money.

-Byshop

Yeah, I'm starting to think the same thing

Heh, amen to that Byshop. Playing Elite Dangerous with a DK2 plus a Saitek X52 is a match made in heaven ;).

To the current issues: Getting a game to run in proper Rift mode needs a bit of tinkering sometimes, but it seems like and update for the Oculus SDK should fix some of those issues. The biggest annoyance is the fact that you constantly have to shift between wearing the Rift and setting up everything on the PC. The resolution is also not quite there yet to be fully playable in many cases, it is very hard to decipher text in Elite for example.

About the latency: That was the big surprise for me honestly, it's much better than I thought. I'm not sure if they can improve that a lot for the consumer version. So far I didn't get motion sick at all, only the Cyber Space demo made me a bit queasy ;).

Consindering that you seem really interested in vr, it might be worth getting the DK2.
