This is my first Blog post so I decided to kick things off with a bang :D!
As some of you may know, we are currently in the 7th generation of consoles. And what a might powerful line-up we have as far as systems go, with the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP, DS, and the PC. With all of these fantastic systems to play, it is guaranteed to cause differences and strong opinions. The problem is when the opinions become arguments, then ultimataly escalate into a futile flame war. The thing is that nobody is wrong. All the systems are fantastic, and quite remarkable. I would like to provide a list of the main systems that seem to cause the most disagreements , the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and PC. If I am forgetting an important PRO or CON associated with each system, then I would appreciate if you informed me of the error.
- Amazing Library of games
- Fairly inexpensive
- Great online capability
- High hardware failure rate
- Still needs the price to be cut another $50 to be truly competitive
- Microsoft's hastly ways of trying to get the item to consumers
- Games retail for an average of $10 more than their PC conterparts
The Xbox 360 is taking the lead at this moment with it's huge library, but the future is quite shaky due to the iffy 2008 line-up and hardware problems. Microsoft reports 5% failure rate on the Xbox 360, while retailers claim that number to be close to 30%. Either way, their hardware is keeping them from soring ahead, and may ultimitaly cause the dimise of the Xbox 360.
- Solid. worry free hardware
- austonding future line-up of quality games
- Recent price cuts can take this to the top
- Expensive for the budget gamers
- lackluster library at the time being
- Sony needs to make a decision on where they want to take the PS3
Sony had a rocky start, but seems to have found it's stride as of late. The amazing 2008 line-up can make it a worthy competitor, and another price cut can send it to the top, but is it too late for the PS3? Only time will tell.
- Great library and future line-up of games
- The best to play with family and friends
- Lackluster online
- very few deep, compelling games
- Not the best for people who like to play alone.
The wii has always been on top of the sells, and appeals to a larger addaiance, but hardcore gamers could find the Wii somewhat unsatisfiying. The Wii has got comfortable sitting on the top, but with the other two consoles right on their tail, they need to make sure that they can stay on top, but at this point, it is too early to tell .
- The most AAA games
- The best graphics
- A wide array of genres
- Unlimited mods and patches
- A little more tedius
- Ridicioulus copy protection.
Although the PC is held at a higher caliber than consoles, it still deserves a mention due to the fact that consoles are starting to catch up to the PC,graphics and downloadable content wise. Although the PC will be the true leader of gaming, it is starting to get some competition from the competitors. How long will PC hold the title is unknown, but it is safe to say that the PC has this generation locked. But due to the sake of comparision, the PC will be left out of the rest of this blog.
All of these consoles are doing quite well, and to bicker and insult the other system is just an excersise in futility because all of them have so much to offer. The Xbox 360 has Halo 3, Gears of War, and Bioshock. The PS3 has Heavenly Sword, and Warhawk. The Wii has The Legend of Zelda: the Twilight Princess, Metroid prime 3, and Resident Evil 4 wii edition. People tend to have different taste, and that is what makes everyone unique. It is just when people have to bash and flame another system to make theirs seem superior is when the whole gaming community suffers, and people tend to forget that games are about fun, and some people find different types of genres and games compelling, and that is why no console is better. Step out of your Fanboy bubble, and try out the other systems. You may realize that all your complaining was unfounded.
Anyway, all of this is beside the point because the best game ever made, PONG, is already out, so I guess there is no point in trying to make the best game, because it is ultimately impossible to top it;).
