It could be "Atlantis : The Lost Tales" by Cryo Interactive. It's been a long time since I played it but I seem to recall that one of the early puzzles required you to allign the orbits of some planets from a metal statue to open a door to a hidden chamber. And it did have gameplay similar to "Myst" (which BTW isn't an RPG but an adventure game). I don't know about the vase dropping, it's been almost 8 years since I last played it.

Here's a "Let's play" of it on YT with the puzzle in question (it's at 9min20sec in) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtXN45Vf94Q See if this sparks a memory. Otherwise, I'm stumped but I agree that from the description it's probably some obscure Myst clone.

If it is Atlantis you're in luck since it's avaible from gog.com, so you don't have to waste time scouring ebay or torrent sites for a copy.

Have a nice day and I hope you will be able to find it!

The part about the vase. Yeah it was actually a flower pot :P.

This part can be seen at 13:33 of the video in the link you gave me.

Happy to help and I'm glad you've found it!

Those were indeed the "good times", when pc gaming was home to so many genres of games and not just fps/rpg/action with the ocassional strategy or racing games tossed in like nowadays. I'm still a PC gamer and I still don't own any consoles besines my old SNES but I long for the times when PC was the only place where you had a choice from such a large spectrum of game genres.

Well, at least adventure games aren't completely dead, even if they're far from their glory days in the 90's.

Anyway, have fun relieving some of those good times with Atlantis : The Lost Tales. I might end up replaying it myself since your post has brought back some happy memories of my own!

Indeed, me mentioning that it was a RPG was mostly because i could not remember the gameplay quite well but after seeing some footage now, it has a lot more in common with Myst than i would have thought.

I don't have as much fun playing the games from the present compared to the time when i played games mostly from Bullfrog, Westwood and LucasArts. Companies that are pretty much dead now or turned to EA.

Populous, Neverhood, Dungeon Keeper I & II... and much more were games when companies didn't focus on getting as much as profit as possible and mostly talk.

I kinda hate the current mentality behind the games from now. Braindead so to speak.

YES! That's the one!

Thanks, this brings memories back. Those were the days of LucasArts and games like "The Day of the Tentacle" for me, good times.

[QUOTE="DutchDoc"]

From my youth i recall a game (this was around 1998) which was first person and had a greek/roman style. You didn't play a superheroe of some sort or whatever. You just played a normal person who could easily be instakilled by saying just the wrong sentence to the wrong person.

It certainly is not a dungeon crawler.

I also recall two key moments in the game:

#1
At some point you had to deal with an astronomical device puzzle, this was a statue composed of planets you had to align in a specific way to unlock something.

#2
Later in the game there was a specific moment that you were standing on a balcony with a vase on the railling. When a specific NPC walked on the ground below you had to drop the vase on his head with timing to knock him out.

I don't remember much more of the game except it wasn't really a RPG in the style that TES is, it was more a puzzle and talking sort of game.

Can someone recall this game?

Big_Red_Button

Could it be Myst? It definitely fits the first person puzzle solving, although I wouldn't call it an RPG.

I haven't played every game in the series but there are definitely places and sequences where the art style is reminiscent of ancient Rome.

It certainly resembles Myst but the NPCs in myst are recordings of actual real life people. The game i played a long time ago may have had recordings but also had NPCs ingame as 3d models you could talk to (like the vase you could drop on a certain NPCs head from above).

I guess it's a Myst-clone.

We're now at 1.6 and i have done the DB and am f*cked right now. Bethesda had a derp moment when they decided to remove the quest activation by getting the key from Tova's corpse and entering Hjerim since 1.4.

Ok so what i'm now supposed to do? Console commands won't work, getting the key from Tova's corpse won't work, getting the posters won't work or the journal.

Any back door fix i don't know yet which someone can share, i'd appreciate it.

I've been getting some drops in connection while playing e.g. World of Warcraft.

Will this router also function as a good extender, meaning i can connect this to my (wireless) router provided by my provider?:

http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=643

I've been looking for a good extender some time now and i always see mixed reviews.

I really need some advice :P
