Have you as a Christian lost that first love?

by on

What is our first love? Our first love is our love for God.

Mark 12:30 AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH

Revelation 2: 2-7 I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false; and you have perseverance and have endured for My name's sake, and have not grown weary. But I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place—unless you repent. Yet this you do have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life which is in the Paradise of God

The church at Ephesus did not tolerate evil, they tested all who called themseleves apostles and they had perseverance. But they lost their first love, they lost their love for God. It doesn't matter what you do, how good of a preacher you are, it doesn't matter if you shun away from evil, it doesn't matter if you know false teaching to the truth. If you do not love God with all of your heart, soul and mind you need to repent and love God again.

The Secret Files of the Inquisition

by on

I came across this show on PBS and even though I only saw part of it, it was a very powerful show. I'm going to order the DVD from their website.

They took actual documents from the inquisition, documents the Inquisition took and kept. They used these documents to reenact different stories from the Inquisition. It was sad and heartbreaking to see what "christians" did to other Christians in the name of God. Killings, torture, prison, forced conversion of Jews, taking Jewish children from their parents to be converted and never to see their family again.

The Pope creating ghettos for Jews to live in and forcing the Jews to identify themselves with yellow markings on their clothes. Sounds familiar doesn't it.

Such dispicable, hateful and evil acts committed by these so called men of God. The history of the Churchin Europe shows why no Church should be involved in running a temporal government. Most of this was done to try and retain power and dominance over the people.

I've always known about the abuses that happened during this time but when you see the stories of the actual people it happened to it kind of makes it more powerful for me. One story that broke my heart was the story of this Jewish family. One night papal police enter this families home and under order from the inquisition take the young son from the family. They show a document to the father claiming the boy had been baptized and therefore, under the law could be taken from them. For over a decade this father tried to get his son back. He talks to the head of the inquisition in his region and says the boy is Jewish and has never been batpized. They refuse to tell the father who was claiming the boy had been baptized. The father eventually finds out what happened. At one time they had a "nanny" who watched their son, she was also a Catholic. One time when the boy was sick she baptized the boy and said a prayer. While talking to some of her friends she had mentioned this in passing. Well word got back to the inquisition and the boy was taken from the family because of that. The boy was placed in a home that specialized in "training" these children taken from their families. The father eventually was even able to see the pope, however the pope refused to give the son back to his father. The pope claimed he was now the father of the child like he was the father of all christians. The father never got his son back.

Just to think of these kind of stories and other horrific stories that happened. Its heartbreaking and so sad how corruption and evil influenced these people. At one time Christians were persecuted heavily by Rome, then "Christians" became the persecutors.

Where is the joy

by on

Where is the Joy? Are we Joyful? Do we have Joy in our life? Do we have Joy in Christ? There seems to be many Christians here on Gamespot and in the world that do not have much joy. It reminds me of some people that I have worked with and continue to work with. They are not that happy in their life and they want to make sure no one around them is happy or joyful either. Everything is negative or condemnation. Now I don't think that we should be in a joyful mood 24/7 and ignore everything, but we must have joy in our lives. Its oky to show joy in our praise to God.

1 Chonicles 15:27-28

27Now David was clothed with a robe of fine linen with all the Levites who were carrying the ark, and the singers and Chenaniah the leader of the singing with the singers. David also wore an ephod of linen.

28Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the horn, with trumpets, with loud-sounding cymbals, with harps and lyres.

All of Israel was shouting, there were horns, trumpets and loud soudning cybmals, harps and lyres. All the musicial instruments of the day being used in joyous celebration because of the return of the Ark of the Covenant.

2 Chronicles 30:21

21The sons of Israel present in Jerusalem celebrated the Feast of Unleavened Bread for seven days with great joy, and the Levites and the priests praised the LORD day after day with loud instruments to the LORD.

Read Isaiah and you will see so much about joy and shouting unto the Lord because of what he has done, it talks about mountains shouting and trees clapping. Yet we should not shout or clap our hands in praise? Let it not be so.

Luke 19:37-40 As soon as He was approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen,

38shouting:
"BLESSED IS THE KING WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD;
Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"

39Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, "Teacher, rebuke Your disciples."

40But Jesus answered, "I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!"

When Israel was delivered fro the Egyptians they celbrated by singing and playing their instruments.

These are just a few verses on Joy and praising God. You might say, well those were just special occasions. We should only sing hymns with as few instruments as possible, we shouldn't show too much emotion. Granted there is a time and place for everything, but when has God ever said when we praise him we should be subdued or only use certain instruments? What better special occasion to celebrate when we go to church than celebrating Christ died for us, that he loves us and will not abandon us. What better reason to celebrate joyfully and at times loud because he has allowed us gentiles into His Kingdom, that he will forgive us our sins, that we will live one day with him. How can we not shout joyfully and use all the instruments at hand to praise him for that. Where is your joy?

"White people cannot have any claim on Obama"

by on
Let me give a little background on the above quote. I was talking with a co-worker while at work. The issue of politics came up and Obama, my friend being black was very proud of him becoming President and very excited which I understand. When I mentioned that Obama was half white she said the above quote. I told her that I wasn't trying to "claim" Obama, only that Obama is bi-racial and he was raised by a white mother and grandmother. You cannot just ignore that part of his life or ignore it or erase it from existence. What Obama accomplised is a great feat and something black people can be proud of, however ignoring or trying to cleanse his white blood and heritage from him is terribly wrong.

Who is my judge

by on

With everyone going on around here, I was deciding on what to do, should I lash out and repay wrong for wrong. I hope this will help in clearing things up.

Who is my judge and who will be my judge on judgment day. Will it be my pastor, no. Will it be my lovely wife, no. Will it be my parents, no. Will it be my friends, no. Will it be some people who I have never met and only know me by a small part of my life on the Internet, no. God will be the judge of me and my heart as only he knows what is in my heart.

So why do some presume to know another's heart? We should discern sin and speak out against it, but we should not be judgmental. After all we are all sinners, how can we gloss over our own shortcomings while judging others so harshly. Jesus said that how we judge others is how we will be judged. How can we point out the speck in our brother's eye but yet ignore the log in our own eye. Jesus calls us to be merciful, gloating or relishing pointing out other people's sin is not merciful. We should not hold judgment against someone that causes reconciliation to become impossible. We whould remember we are all sinners and fall short of God and we should not be in a rush to judge others.

Some think they know me, my heart and my life. They do not. God is still working in my life and I have a long way to go. Jesus saved me from a life of despair and ruin. He is my salvation, my life and my Lord. I can do nothing without him. He has saved me time and time again.

I remember the time in college when I was in such despair and depression. I took a whole bottle of sleeping pills to end it all, crying for God to forgive me. Nothing happened, I did not get sick or even tired. God saved me. I remember the time while driving for hours in the rain and how tired I was. I set the cruise control to 70. I fell asleep at the wheel and went over into the steep medium going 70 miles per hour on extremely wet gras with an overhead concrete overpass not too far away. I woke up in a panic and then felt a calm and somehow was able to easily get back up onto the highway without panicking or slamming on the brakes which would have caused an accident. I remember God bringing my lovely, Godly wife into my life. I remember the doctor telling me I could not have children. I remember the healing touch of God I felt after receiving prayer in church and that week my wife became pregnant. We now have one more child on the way. God has done so much in my life and continues to work in my life. If somone who does not know me wishes to judge my heart and my salvation then I will no longer worry about it. They will have to answer for that on that day when we all bend and bow before God.

I also wish that things could be worked out amongst those involved. My blog is open to disuss this. God bless

The yoke of Christ

by on

Matthew 11:28-30 28 "Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

30 For My yoke is easy and My burden light

So why do we have a tendency to make the yoke of Christ a burden, a chore, heavy, "religious". Why do we place the yoke of the law around our neck instead of the yoke of Christ. Do we follow Christ and carry out his commandments because we love Him and for his love for us, or do we do it because we think we have to otherwise we will be punished. Now we should have a respectful fear of the Lord, but if fear is our sole reason for serving Christ then you are just being "religious" and you are completely missing the point in serving Christ.

We make serving God so hard sometimes, we just have to make that yoke heavier and heavier. Just like the Pharisees. We condemn and judge people by the clothes they wear, the food they eat, the music they listen to, the way the praise and worship God, the type of Bible they read and even the day they worship the Lord on and even judge people on their emotions. Is this done out of a love for Christ and his love for us, or is it done for our own selfsish desires and self-seeking approval in our beliefs. Or is this done because we are so afraid of God and at any moment he will bring punishment down on us if we stumble. That is fear only, the fear of punishment and there is no love in that. God does not desire for us to be like some beat down dog with our leg constantly between our legs and cowering and peeing all over ourselves because we have so much fear for him. Of course we cannot be so flippant with our attitude toward God or his discipline, however we are not to live our lives in constant fear of him either.

Christ called us and we came to him willingly and put on His yoke, why do we add more to that yoke. Why did we come to Christ, and why do we serve him? Is it out love or fear and self-seeking approval of what we do?

Two sides to every story, Here is mine

by on

As some of you may or may not know there were some issues in the CU some time back. Some questioned my salvation, saying I was full of lies, against the Bible and a limp-wristed fascist to name a few. Some said this was not said. Here are some quotes that show otherwise.

"I am leaving this union because as I said, I cannot take the lies that both Elmo and Draconis are intentionally making up in an attempt to defraud me. Since they have chosen that tact, I will speak what is on my mind. There is a time to be silent and a time to speak and now is the time to speak. Just as Paul did with Peter, I withstand them to their face, I feel they are both carnal, baby, unbiblical Christians, they are giving people unbiblical advice, they have dual standards, obviously have a deep hatred for Biblical Christians, offer only opinions unsupported by Scripture and most frequently in direct opposition to the word of God. While only the Lord is the judge of one's heart, I sincerely question whether either of them are truly born again saved Christians based on their actions and fruits."

"This board is anything but a Christian board. It is a religious board, without interest in discerning the truth of God's Word, and those two and several others on this board are serving the Lord with their lips, not their hearts. They desire to conform the Word of God to their feelings, emotions, and beliefs, rather than advising Christians that we are called to conform our lives, feelings, emotions and beliefs to the Word of God."

Now if he would be so kind to post here on my blog what opinions were not supported by scripture or in direct opposition to the Word of God and how I have a deep hatred for Biblical Christians or the un-biblical advice I have given and why it is un-biblical. Also show how I am not serving God with my heart. Quite a god-like judgment there. Also you like to put yourself in the same position as Paul, well you sir are no Paul. Not to mention Paul actually had the courage to speak to Peter to his face, unlike you. Its also interesting that Paul rebuked Peter for not associating with gentile Christians because of doctrinal differences. Sounds like what you do with not associating with Christians with differing viewpoints. You are the Peter in this whole thing.

Another quote by another person involved in this

"You must be the only "true" Christian in the world that consistently lies and slams the Bible. With such skills, I must admit, you could get a pretty good part in "The Omen"(Physically, and Spiritually)"

How about that I am the anti-Christ, wow. I would like to see my consistent lies and proof of how I slam the Bible.

Some have accused me of putting the CWU down. If they have proof I would appreciate that they post it here so I can apologize.

And some have the gall to believe they are doing God's work and are being persecuted. What a joke. Being persecuted for judging other people's hearts, lying and bringing false accusations and being hypocrites. That is a "biblical" Christian? oh my. Some think they are perfect and have no faults and they strike out at others who call them on it.

Here is a blog post by a current member of the CU about me

"Wow. I had some free time today and decided to check in on the Christian (?) Union and I was shocked. The posts of mine and and mrcong that dissagreed with Draconis were deleted and my other post was supplied with a note that was meant to insult blackregiment. I am not a paranoid guy who thinks that everyone is out to get him, but this is insane. Elmo proceeded to make a new thread that shows policy for the union that was written to build up Draconis and discourage people who dissagree by making it against Union policy to bring up opinions, believe them to be right and try convince others of it. Isn't that why we had that union? Wasn't it made to be a place where people who believe in God to discuss their beliefs and ascertain the truth? Draconis seems to have other plans"

No posts disagreeing with me were deleted by myself. I only ever recall one post of mrcongs that I participated in and it is still there. Also anyone can bring up opinions as long as everyone remains respectful. The problem was people attacking others for disagreeing with them. Also notice the"?" mark after Christian which is questioning our Christianity. This was standard practice for a while when referring to the CU

Here are links to two posts in the CWU that make false statements against me. http://www.gamespot.com/pages/unions/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26542850&union_id=16845

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/unions/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26694728&union_id=16845

Its interesting that I have been called a liar and un-biblical. The first post was made after the leader of the CWU and I agreed not to allow posts about the other union or its members in our respective unions. The second post was made in violation of our agreement but nothing would be done. He was afraid the OP would leave the union if post was locked. So much for keeping ones word I must say. But he told me he thinks its no big deal. Keeping your word is no big deal, wow. Its amazing how people justify their hypocrisy and yet still remain judgmental. talk about taking the log out of your own eye.

Have I been perfect, no. Have I said some things I probably shouldn't have, yes. Have I used a little too much hyperbole at times, probably. However I have never questioned anyones salvation nor said some of the vile things mentioned above.

Those who I quoted are free to respond here, don't hide in your unions or hide on your blogs that no one can post in. Come here to straighten things out amongs Christian brothers if you want. I am open for a civil discussion to work things out.

Not too difficult to rip off best buy I guess

by on

My sound card went out on me after years of service so I had to replace it. I went to Best Buy and saw they had some soundblaster X-Fi gamer fatal1ty pro sound cards on clearance for $60. So when I got home and opened it something seemed kinf out of place. The card seemed small and the anti-static bag looked a little too crumply. I took out the card and it was an an audigy 4, not the X-Fi gamer card, plus you could see the wear and tear on it. Also there was no manual or driver CD's. Ooops, looks like someone had bought this and removed the orignal card and packaging and replaced it with their old card.

I took it back to best buy right away and got it exchanged. The service rep said maybe it came from the factory that way and I said I highly doubt it. Also the orignal box I got was not sealed like the other one I exchanged it for. I guess the best buy employee who accepted the return just saw a sound card and didn't know any better. They could have checked the picture on the box though to make sure. You would think though that before they put the product back on sale that they would make sure everyting is in order. Not to mention it should have been sold as an open box item instead of new.

Catholics and Protestants

by on

Don't worry its not an "anti" thread and I'm using Protestants to signify non-Catholics to make it easier. Its also not directed at any one person in particular, but from many sources.

I just wanted to voice a few things after reading blogs and visiting other unions and visiting other sites on the web. After reading the many posts I can see why there was so much bloodshed and hatred in the middle ages between the two groups. I can see why there was so much hatred and bloodshed in Northern Ireland between the two groups. There may not be the bloodshed as in the past but the hate is still there and I believe many are capable of continuing the bloodshed. Sometimes I'm astonished to see the hate and those that despise the other group. It comes from both sides, Catholic and Protestant.

One side will become offended or upset with what someone else said on the other side and then will lash out in the same type of hateful, arrogant, hurtful spirit as the other. Do two wrongs make a right, are we to repay evil with evil. I'm not saying we shouldn't defend our views or church but when you lash out with the same type of hateful spirit as the other then you are just like they are. When you group one whole group of people together because of the actions of some you are no worse than they are.

If you want to change someone's mind, belittling them or attacking them with hateful comments will not change their mind. If anything it will only cause them to resist you more. When I was a Catholic I remember all the hateful comments directed at me and it did nothing to change anything except hate you more. When I became a Protestant I got the same hate directed at me from Catholics. I wasn't innocent either, I did the same thing when I was a Catholic and when I first became a Protestant. Its not enough that we have disagreements and continue to go on our way, we have to carry out our own little crusades and inquisitions.

Its no wonder that Europe is so secular now seeing as how the Protestants and Catholics did their best to turn people away from God with their wars and brutality against each other. Its sad that centuries later the underlying hate is still there between the two groups.

Funny article on Obama

by on

I saw this on the timesonline.uk and thought it was great and had to post it.

He ventured forth to bring light to the world

The anointed one's pilgrimage to the Holy Land is a miracle in action - and a blessing to all his faithful followers Gerard Baker And it came to pass, in the eighth year of the reign of the evil Bush the Younger (The Ignorant), when the whole land from the Arabian desert to the shores of the Great Lakes had been laid barren, that a Child appeared in the wilderness.

The Child was blessed in looks and intellect. Scion of a simple family, offspring of a miraculous union, grandson of a typical white person and an African peasant. And yea, as he grew, the Child walked in the path of righteousness, with only the occasional detour into the odd weed and a little blow.

When he was twelve years old, they found him in the temple in the City of Chicago, arguing the finer points of community organisation with the Prophet Jeremiah and the Elders. And the Elders were astonished at what they heard and said among themselves: "Verily, who is this Child that he opens our hearts and minds to the audacity of hope?"

In the great Battles of Caucus and Primary he smote the conniving Hillary, wife of the deposed King Bill the Priapic and their barbarian hordes of Working ****Whites. And so it was, in the fullness of time, before the harvest month of the appointed year, the Child ventured forth - for the first time - to bring the light unto all the world. He travelled fleet of foot and light of camel, with a small retinue that consisted only of his loyal disciples from the tribe of the Media.

He ventured first to the land of the Hindu Kush, where the Taleban had harboured the viper of al-Qaeda in their bosom, raining terror on all the world. And the Child spake and the tribes of Nato immediately loosed the Caveats that had previously bound them. And in the great battle that ensued the forces of the light were triumphant. For as long as the Child stood with his arms raised aloft, the enemy suffered great blows and the threat of terror was no more.

From there he went forth to Mesopotamia where he was received by the great ruler al-Maliki, and al-Maliki spake unto him and blessed his Sixteen Month Troop Withdrawal Plan even as the imperial warrior Petraeus tried to destroy it. And lo, in Mesopotamia, a miracle occurred. Even though the Great Surge of Armour that the evil Bush had ordered had been a terrible mistake, a waste of vital military resources and doomed to end in disaster, the Child's very presence suddenly brought forth a great victory for the forces of the light.

And the Persians, who saw all this and were greatly fearful, longed to speak with the Child and saw that the Child was the bringer of peace. At the mention of his name they quickly laid aside their intrigues and beat their uranium swords into civil nuclear energy ploughshares.

From there the Child went up to the city of Jerusalem, and entered through the gate seated on an ass. The crowds of network anchors who had followed him from afar cheered "Hosanna" and waved great palm fronds and strewed them at his feet. In Jerusalem and in surrounding Palestine, the Child spake to the Hebrews and the Arabs, as the Scripture had foretold. And in an instant, the lion lay down with the lamb, and the Israelites and Ishmaelites ended their long enmity and lived for ever after in peace. As word spread throughout the land about the Child's wondrous works, peoples from all over flocked to hear him; Hittites and Abbasids; Obamacons and McCainiacs; Cameroonians and Blairites. And they told of strange and wondrous things that greeted the news of the Child's journey. Around the world, global temperatures began to decline, and the ocean levels fell and the great warming was over.

The Great Prophet Algore of Nobel and Oscar, who many had believed was the anointed one, smiled and told his followers that the Child was the one generations had been waiting for. And there were other wonderful signs. In the city of the Street at the Wall, spreads on interbank interest rates dropped like manna from Heaven and rates on credit default swaps fell to the ground as dead birds from the almond tree, and the people who had lived in foreclosure were able to borrow again. Black gold gushed from the ground at prices well below $140 per barrel. In hospitals across the land the sick were cured even though they were uninsured. And all because the Child had pronounced it.

And this is the testimony of one who speaks the truth and bears witness to the truth so that you might believe. And he knows it is the truth for he saw it all on CNN and the BBC and in the pages of The New York Times.

Then the Child ventured forth from Israel and Palestine and stepped onto the shores of the Old Continent. In the land of Queen Angela of Merkel, vast multitudes gathered to hear his voice, and he preached to them at length. But when he had finished speaking his disciples told him the crowd was hungry, for they had had nothing to eat all the hours they had waited for him. And so the Child told his disciples to fetch some food but all they had was five loaves and a couple of frankfurters. So he took the bread and the frankfurters and blessed them and told his disciples to feed the multitudes. And when all had eaten their fill, the scraps filled twelve baskets.

Thence he travelled west to Mount Sarkozy. Even the beauteous Princess Carla of the tribe of the Bruni was struck by awe and she was great in love with the Child, but he was tempted not. On the Seventh Day he walked across the Channel of the Angles to the ancient land of the hooligans. There he was welcomed with open arms by the once great prophet Blair and his successor, Gordon the Leper, and his successor, David the Golden One. And suddenly, with the men appeared the archangel Gabriel and the whole host of the heavenly choir, ranks of cherubim and seraphim, all praising God and singing: "Yes, We Can."
