I can totally understand this thread as well. For me, I think there are a few things that contribute to me feeling empty when it comes to games. 1) Games just simply aren't as creative any more. Look at what we had during the C64/Speccy and Amiga/ST eras compared to what we have now. Hell, even the PC stuff of the early 90s was still blowing away the stuff we have today in terms of imagination. It's not just on PCs, but consoles too. Everything is quite derivative now, with a sense of having played them all after you've played one. This generally means that when it comes to wanting to play games, the selection is far more limited than it used to be. There are plenty of reasons for this (and none of them have ANYTHING to do with the economy) but I won't get into it here unless someone calls me out on it. :P 2) Games generally aren't worth playing, but I tend to have this mentality of holding onto them anyway. In one sense, it's nice -- it's like keeping photographs from a holiday. However, it does mean that there is more selection in your folder/on your shelf when you go to choose something. This can lead to those situations where you just go... "Um....?" Worse is when you sort of think about trimming down your collection but then say to yourself "Oh, no, I'm sure I'll play that some day." You never do, though. Less is really more. 3) I have a LOT of free time since I'm really, really sick at the moment. I can't go outside and do all those fun things, so I find my activities are limited. Gaming is a good way to kill large amounts of time, but when you do too much of it, you just feel blah. My advice is to only game if you feel like gaming, rather than gaming for something to do. 4) I'm 26, so I just think I'm kind of growing out of gaming a bit. Some games really do capture my imagination and attention, but at the same time I just find myself wanting to kill a few hours on a Sunday by playing some FIFA. Um... I don't know where I went with this, sorry. I just wanted to get some stuff off my chest. :(

I just got back from seeing it. I haven't felt physically sick from seeing a movie since I went to The Blair Witch Project. Seriously, Bay, you need to lay off the shaky-cam. Said shaky-cam also affected me from understanding what the hell was going on. It just ended up as a big blur and I was totally lost. Not only was the action completely incoherent, but they story was also. Additionally, what happened to showing the Transformers on screen? Most of them had a pathetic amount of time on screen and felt woefully underused. It was like Bay just wanted to focus on Mudflap and Skids because he created them. Easily the worst movie I've seen this year. Wolverine was better, and that's saying something.

Bah, so disappointed.

For the record, the first one is one of my favourite movies ever.

So, there I was playing SFIV online, and I thought to myself: 'You know, I never ever think about the fact I can just take this online for nothing.' I used to own a 360 (but it broke three times so I sold it, in case you were wondering) and the cost of XBL always hit home once a year when I got my credit card charged. With the PS3, however, it's just there. I never think about it, so in a way I kind of take it for granted. I don't really play online much either -- just Warhawk and Street Fighter IV -- so mabye that also has something to do with it. Anyway, do you take online for granted too?

There isn't. Oh wait, apparently Heavy Rain will have a story. Whoopdeedo! You're better off reading a book.

He doesn't actually mention the Wii at all, although I can see it's implied. Anyway, Sony need to work on converting PS2 users into PS3 users. I know plenty of people who want to get one, but the price is still too much of a barrier. The fact Final Fantasy XIII isn't out yet isn't helping either...

Immersion just means being involved in something. You can be immersed in your work, for example. I don't think anyone plays a game in which they are not immersed. I really hate this idea that immersion is synonymous with some kind of virtual world. You can be immersed in Mega Man 2, for crying out loud. Anyway, to answer the topic, I play games for a variety of reasons. I'll play a Final Fantasy for the story and general anime-esque appeal, whereas I'll play something like Super Stardust HD simply because I like the challenge.

To be honest, I thought the PSP was on its way out. My local EB wasn't stocking very many PSP games and the new release line-up looked dire. However, Sony single-handedly revived the PSP at E3. I'm glad I own one now. Rather than invest in a PSPgo, I'm just going to get a 16GB stick for my PSP. It's great to know that I can avoid going to EB for games now. :)

Iwata went on record saying it could be in three years, five years, or seven years. His point was that they will release a new console when they see a point. They'll likely include HD visuals this time, but they don't see a reason to release a console JUST for that fact. Indeed, they said they will release a new console when they find a new, fun way to play that warrants a new machine.

Look, it's obvious to anyone that the title infers that Judi Dench is going to be in it.
