Coming Soon to Now Playing: Catherine

by on

Today at 10:00am PT GameSpot will be showing their "Now Playing" of Catherine. What is Catherine you might wonder?

Well the game stars Vincent Brooks (voiced by Troy Baker, A.K.A Frank Archer from Fullmetal Alchemist) who after meeting the strange and curiously cute "Catherine" starts having horrible nightmares, not so bad right? WRONG, turns out that in these horrific nightmares Vincent is at rick of being killed, kinda puts a damper on things…

While I'd like to tell you more about the game you're gonna have to tune in at 10 to find out more about this particular puzzle platformer. But to hold you over until then, heres a little teaser for you ;)

The First of a Great Many Comic-Con Themed Posts

by on

Comic-Con 2011 is around the corner, like.... a week away... Oh goodness Comic-Con is a week away... This is the part where I get all giddy and excited about the awesome things that I'll be getting to experience and all the fantastic people that I will get to hang out with.

An example you ask? How about Colin Carlisle the awesome Video Viking that operated the E3 2011 Live Back Pack Cam?

Not to mention the other plethora of fabulousness that I will be spending a large amount of time with during Comic Con. This is my frist time getting to go to a Con of this magnitude, which I believe is the proper word... I've been to several Cons, Wonder-Con, Ape-Con, Ikkicon, along with more than half a dozen Renaissance and Fantasy Fairs.

The line up for this years Comic-Con is fabulous to say the very least and I know I for one am looking forward to possibly getting to check out "The Guilds" booth (which I believe is 4300).

I'll be posting more news about Comic-Con as it is made known to me but one thing is for sure. This Friday in the Weekly Report we will be mentioning several activities, along with a couple of new emblems and chances to advance your user level. For more information be sure to check out the Weekly Report on Friday.

Happy 4th of July!

by on

Ah 4th of July, the day we can all celebrate our country's independence by blowing up a small piece of it. Like many on this day I will be gathering with family and friends to eat, drink and generally be happy about things. There may even be a little Call of Duty action.

Also I reviewed L.A Noire finally. I think there may be a tiny bit of spoiler type info in there but nothing too big. So if you do choose to read it WARNING: Proceed with caution :P

Anyway I'm off to go the store for some stuff to make party type food.

Happy 4th of July everyone, I'll see you on the 5th.

I shall leave you all with a recipie for Lemon Meringue Pie (its what i'm bringin to this little shindig)

Ingredients:

 • 1 1/2 cup sugar
 • 1/3 cup cornstarch
 • 1 1/2 cup water
 • 3 egg yolks (reserve whites for meringue)
 • 3 tbsp butter
 • 1/4 cup lemon juice
 • Rind of one lemon

Meringue:

 • 3 egg whites
 • 1/3 cup sugar

In heavy saucepan, blend sugar and cornstarch. Gradually add water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly. Bring to boil, and boil for one minute. Stir 1/2 mixture into beaten egg yolks; stir back into rest of the mixture. Boil one minute longer. Remove from heat and add lemon juice, rind and butter; stir well. Pour into baked pie crust and top with meringue; brown under broiler taking care to not set it on fire because man oh man it will do so the minute you look away.

Enjoy ;)

Uncharted 3 Beta Code Trivia!

by on

Hey guys! I'm giving away 20 Beta Codes to Uncharted 3, awesome right ;)

How do you get your beta code? That part is easy, the first 20 people to answer my trivia question correctly will get the code!

Ready? Here we go!

"Many hero's have been known to travel into the uncharted, but this one holds a special place in my heart.

This famous actor lent his voice to Halo: Reach and Halo 3: ODST as Gunnery Sergeant Buck, what is the name of that Actor?"

Good luck guys ;)
He was also passed up for the role of Nathan Drake
Not so Offbeat and Union Activity!

by on

Well one things for sure, I've had a bit of an offbeat couple of hours. I won't go into detail but one thing was certain I needed a pick me up. I get a lovely PM from a super special spotter which helped make my day a little less glum. Next I am reminded that it is bagel day in the office, THEN Pandora finally starts to play Beats Antique for me. So maybe today wont be so bad after all (because I just CAN'T feel too down after listening to "Roustabout" :P.)

On a different note UNIONS I have an activity for you ;)

We can all agree that the unions need, nay deserve some nice things of their own every now and then. A few weeks ago we showcased a union but we couldn't help but feel like there was something missing? A nice shiny border to frame that awesome union to help make their announcement stand out! While at first we thought we should take the time to craft one for the Union Spotlight we here at the community thought that it would be so much more interesting if we saw what kind of border the unions could come up with! You are already so creative with the work that you put into your Unions so clearly whatever borders you come up with will be nothing short of fantastic.

The criteria for your Union Spotlight Border submission are the following requirements:

*Size of the border should be 400x380.

*Be in gif format.

*Image size less than 200k.

*No animated borders.

*When you submit your border make sure that you leave the center blank.

*We want the content to be original. That being said, don't steal other peoples work! (If you need examples of the Member Spotlight I have a few in my albums page)

Once you've settled on the perfect stage for your Union Spotlight, display your entries in your union for all your fellow members to see, then link to it in this forum page here. We will be taking submissions for the Union Spotlight Border Contest until June 30th, 12:00PM PT after we've collected the submissions the Staff will cherry pick the ones that we feel best fit the desired concept for a Union Spotlight Border.

Then on Friday the 1st we will display the top submission and let you unionists vote on which border you like most! Voting period will go from Friday when the weekly report is posted until July 7th at 12:00PM PT when your votes will be tallied. The union with the winning border will be featured in the weekly report, a union level up, and of course have their border featured for all future Union Spotlights! So unions, lets see what you got!

Looking for new talent to sport our "Top 500 Reviewer" emblem.

by on

Stick with me kid, I'll make you a Star ;)

Okay so that may be a bit of an exaggeration. But I CAN see about getting you a spiffy and coveted emblem. No we're not talking about that Riddles one, we're talking about the top 500 reviewers (or possibly top 100 for those of you who are already a part of club 500). We need some fresh and exciting new talent to hold these emblems so when people peruse your profile they can look under your name and go "wow, s/he actually has an emblem for writing? I should totally check them out!"

Now that I have your attention your probably asking yourself, how DO I get this spiffy emblem (or the upgrade for that matter). Well, there just so happens to be a spiffy link in the Site Enhancements forum page with the very subject to discuss who you think needs, nay… deserves this emblem! Don't forget, if you want to nominate yourself for the position, be sure to drag someone kicking and screaming with you. Much like karaoke, its not as much fun if its all about you.
