Wow, I disappear for a while, come back and the only thing that's changed is the layout. I can't believe this thread is still going and some of you guys are still here. How goes it everyone?

I can't even download the damn thing. Keeps saying "not enough free space" even though over six gigs of space is available.

NA PSN just went down for me. I can't believe the web browser now relies on PSN to be connected. When did this change?

Well, lets start out with logic. You are paying for discounts, limited downloads they slap "free" on and betas.

The smart people will figure it out. As for the rest? Follow the herd!

Navigating through the store is more of a chore with the new one. The search wants to find every other title aside from the one I'm looking for. I was fine with "browse by letter".

[QUOTE="Davyvfr"] Correct me if I'm wrong, did you use the online PlayStation Service & Repair (you pay $150 for refurb.) or did you send it to a certified repair shop? If you sent it to a repair shop, I'm not surprised it died. I don't think the quality between the two are the same.

Davyvfr

Yes, the refurb I got back was from Sony. I paid over $700 for my original 60gig, I wasn't going to take it to a regular shop and nobody was fixing PS3's aside from Sony (at the time) anyways. No fault of my own. The PS3 is a piece of crap :P

How long did your second PS3 (from Sony refurbished) last before it got the YLOD?

The refurb was a year and eight months. My first PS3 was a year and ten months. Seems to be a pattern.

I don't understand this irrational fascination with the CoD series that enables it to break sales records every year when it's the same damn thing. It also doesn't help when the Gaming Press post reviews praising these games year after year despite their claims to be "highly critical establishments looking out for the best interests for the consumer."

It just doesn't make sense.

Kravyn81

It's because these companies have friends in the media and a good marketing budget. It's all "hype". How do you think Halo became so popular? Halo would've sunk in the sea of a saturated FPS market if they didn't have those Microsoft marketing dollars backing it. Fast forward to today, that has now been passed on to the Call Of Duty franchise who sees a yearly release of slight alterations of Call Of Duty 4. Also, I don't think these "record breaking" numbers are entirely true. It's apart of the hype after all, to get people to buy into it. "The news says it's record breaking, it must be awesome!"

My second 60gig referb from a Sony repair shop, that YLOD on me (like my original one). Reflowed it twice so far. Lasted a month the last time, but it was in the middle of the heatwaves in the summer. Tried it again, hopefully it'll last longer. But it gets loud. The only console to ever crap out on me in my entire life. I expect this from PC's, not consoles. What a piece of crap the PS3 is.

Seriously, how much time and talent is wasted on another fps game that is 99.99% similar to its predecessor you think? So much good could be used for creating new games! Oh look, the new MoH is out, lets shoot another 1000 guys or so and play MP that's probably the same like all those other shooters! It's so much fun!

The same concept is recycled over and over. Aren't you guys getting bored of it, too?

DiamondSlicer

I was getting bored in 2007. When 90% of the PS3 games were FPS'ers. Oblivion was a godsend at that time

One thing I don't understand is this "Call Of Duty mind spell" people seem to easily fall for like drooling zombies. When they've been essentially playing modified versions of Call Of Duty 4 with every release. FOR YEARS. Even down to the same broken online mode and (shortened even further) single player campaigns.

First 60gig - YLOD

Referb 60gig Sony gave me - YLOD

Reflowed this summer, month later - YLOD

Reflowed again, waiting for the light. Loud fan.

I've never had any console crap out on me before in my entire life, from my Atari 2600 to my (now ten year old) PS2 and Dreamcast. I may like the PS3, but as far as I'm concerned, it's a piece of unreliable crap.
