Having played 2 and 3 I know what to expect from this game. Top notch execution on a technical and creative level (ships, robots, levels, effects...etc), but middling combat and story. Despite that, I think its going to be one hell of a ride.

I can't wait to buy my official PS4 pro level-pads. Maximize your levelability!... While I think this may be a glitch, or if it turns out to be a technical design flaw, the problem is easily fixed with those little rubber sticky pads. Available now.
Innovation only matter when others follow. The Jury is still out on that with the Wii U. One could argue that Sony is following with the PS4 Vita remote play stuff, but we all know how quick sony is to pick up a trend a and drop it just as fast. Sixaxis, move...etc
I'm going to try console gaming on my desktop this gen. I have a new 27" Dell to view things on. Hidden behind, I have a 30w 2.1 soundbar with optical input. I am really looking forward to Friday.

I'm going to be jumping for joy when I see that fedex truck roll up.
I'll be at work keeping my eye out for mr. fedex man.
I wouldn't say they innovate. That would imply the things they develop set the new standards for everyone else to follow. They have unique products though.
I remember a lot of hype for the PS3, then the price tag, then the giant enemy crab...etc It was pretty funny at the time. I'll also add, I didn't buy a PS3 until 2008. I thought Sony's arrogance and the whole PS3 launch situation made me not give a crap. But after E3 2008 (when Jack Trenton started taking the floor) with the price drop I got on board. I've had a good experience with the system mostly on the first party games. The PS3 came back from way behind, and any trouble xb1 has is nothing compared to that. I think Xboxone will do fine after in the long run, but it needs a serious price drop to complete with the PS4.
The only real good PC vs Console argument that can be made is that it gives first party developers a unified platform. So companies like Naughty Dog can optimize and design based around a known set of specs.
I remember when nintendo was trying to launch and sell the GameCube, they were throwing parties and giving away free booze. I went to the club event in my area and got bombed, and played all the new games for free. Those were the days, they need to get back to doing that.
