Spartan Ops Season one review

by on

The first season of Spartan Ops ended today with episode 10 "Exodus". So I thought it'd be fun to write my first review.

Before we begin, let's discuss what Spartan Ops is. Spartan Ops is a second campaign mode replacing Firefight from Halo: Reach and Halo: ODST. It continues the story of the UNSC ship Infinity and her mission to the mysterious Forerunner sheild world know as Requiem. Taking place 6 months after the events of Halo: 4, Spartan Ops follows the adventures of Spartan 4 Fireteams Crimson and Majestic. The player(s) make up Fireteam Crimson and can use their own customized Spartans that they use in the War Games multiplayer mode.

Episodes: Spartan Ops Season one consists of 10 episodes, with five missions and one cinematic per-episode. They were released on a weekly basis every Monday. Each cinematic featured Fireteam Majestic and the events on Requiem and Infinity. Some of the characters featured are: Thomas Lasky, the current Captain of the Infinity and protagonist of Halo Forward Unto Dawn, Spartan 4 Commander Sarah Palmer, who leads the Spartan 4s on Infinity, Jul 'Mdama the leader of the Covenant Remnant, and many others

Missions: Various missions are carried out by Fireteam Crimson (The players) and can be played alone or with others over Xbox Live.

During the mission, players are given objectives by various characters on the Infinity. These objectives often include: activating a console/device/door/etc, destroying certain objects such as cannons and sheild devices, eliminating all hostiles in the area or destroying specific enemy's and vehicles. Maps used in Spartan Ops are often re-used and can seem quite repetitive at times.

Rating: Though the missions were often bland and boring, I quite enjoyed the story and characters of the second campaign and am looking forward to the next season.

Xbox is broke...again

by on

Well, my Xbox broke again. I turned it on this morning to play Halo 4, but when I opened up the disc tray, it closed, then opened, then closed again, and said it was opening when it wasn't.

This is the THIRD time an Xbox has broke on me. It's times like these that make me wish I had saved up for a PC for gaming instead of a console, the damn things break too much. I hope the next generation of consoles last longer than nine months, otherwise it's going to be like what happened when the Xbox 360 launched with everyone calling and complaining about their consoles getting a "disc read error."

And I know some people are going to tell me "oh, the Xbox isn't unreliable, you just play it too much," well I'll tell you now that is complete, and utter BS. The point is: These things shouldn't break in the first place. I played my Xbox original longer than I played this, and never had a problem with it.

If the next gen Xboxes break like their predecessors, I'm giving up on Microsoft. There's only so much crap I can take from someone before I snap. If it comes to that, I'm switching to PC and getting my games off Steam. If anyone knows how to fix the problem, please tell me in the comments below. Thanks for reading.

UPDATE I fixed it :) it just needed cleaning.
