Just in case anyone is still reading this thread, I received a nice response from Gamespot technical support. Apparently they are in the process of installing a new highspeed download server and that's the reason for the recent reduction in download speeds. We should be back up to highspeed downloads soon!

I have noticed that there has been almost no official help or comment on the slowdown issue from Gamespot. It's strange because the "highspeed" download server is supposed to be much faster for us total access members, so they aren't really standing by their loyal customers. I wonder if throttling has become a corporate edict from the managing company?
Thanks for the reply. It seems that the download speeds start at about 250 kb/sec but then drop down to almost an even 100 kb/sec in just a few moments after the download starts. If I start a second download at the same time, the exact same thing happens and I end up with the 2 downloads progressing at about 100 kb/sec. Feels like my download speeds are being throttled down for some reason, but I know that Gamespot vehimently denies that it does that, so I'm not sure what's going on.
I am a total access member and have been for years. During the past few weeks I have noticed that whenever I try to download a file, the download speeds are extremely slow. I know it is not a problem with my highspeed internet access because I have no bandwidth problems with other websites that I visit. Is there some kind of problem right now with the total access download servers? Any idea when this problem will be corrected?
Thank you.
