This is a difficult thing to answer, all communities wether it a gaming or any other will have idiots and good people.

With smaller fan based games, you will notice the good people more than bad, but with huge fan base like WoW you will notice more bad than good due to the size of the community.

Either way small or huge, the fan base has an equally proportional amount of bad and good anyway. Its like if it was a life design "Thou shall havest 30% bad people and 70% good people"

But.... It all depends on the developers also, if they are willing to sit and be a part of the community also and help people and generally converse then they will give a good feeling among a community.

Blizzard do the opposite in my opinion, the way they treat customers and give people little information on things going wrong is very bad.

So what has been the best community for me so far, has to be the Homeworld community, the modding etc was just fun to be within, nobody was badly treated and the developers were great.

I think Psychonauts was a big shame, people didnt really buy it and it was beautifully designed and its gameplay was amazingly addictive.

One of those games that failed due to hardly any promotion.

Yeah, in a round-about way, but it's not a PC game, it's a classic that they brought over. Considering every console game is available on the PC, and how long it was before it was brought to the PC, and the fact that it was a classic with such status that it had.. I wouldn't consider it a pc game.

Dont forget there is plenty of RPG's that are on consoles that are also on PC.

Wether or not a game was originally designed for a specific platform at first then ported to the PC does not mean its not a PC game.

If it appeared on the PC then it is valid. Thusly FF7 is valid.

I enjoyed the first Star Wolves so recently I got Star Wolves 2 which I immediately installed when I got home. As you do :P

Started out ok, but then it started to slip into the been there done that scenario. The characters have not been given a makeover, the old faces from SW1 is still used in SW2 (bad move). The whole system is practically the same.

The voice acting has not improved since SW1 which I was disappointed with, since being a big seller originally im sure they had the money to hire good english voice actors. A couple of the characters sound ok with the russian accents but some are well bad, as if they are... reading from... a script... and trying to ..... speak english.... as best they can.

One really annoying thing is the fact the storyline is so linear, no matter who you chose to side with, you do not get a choice on what to do really. And even more annoying is the fact these missions always seem to pop up when your traveling to a portal to jump out. So when they are busy speaking away up pops the "Do you want to teleport to xxxxxx". So when you leave the speaking after a long unnecessary pause before returing to game play (another bad design fault) you are presented with no UI, you have to wait for the message to pop up again and press ENTER to teleport and go back to normal.

Then you have some bad major mission killing bugs, at one point you will meet AI (which they seem to call AL dont ask why) and you have to save her to get her to help you get more information on an alien object. Now I dunno what happens since everytime I save her she blows up (her ship has no armor what so ever). Which is a major disappointment.

Also the mission to help the MSF in a sector to beat retreating aliens does not trigger its done until you leave the sector and go back, BUT, the mission is still in the log which stays forever. Rather annoying. As is the unnecessary slow down when fighting there, no idea why there is lag there.

Overall I feel it has been a rushed job, and with the money available they chose not to tweak anything much, yes I am a fan of if nothing is broken dont fix it, but not changing characters faces, UI and some other things is very very poor in my opinion and SW2 feels like its more an addon than a new game.

I would give a score of 6/10 myself, was close to making it4.5 but I guess I feel generous today.

Im actually suprised not a lot of people have gone for Final Fantasy 7. It had all the elements that an RPG should have.

Degrees of difficulty changing throughout the game, humour, great story line, sub-games, discoverable things.

It was the first game that really had me hooked, and a game that I didnt put down for weeks, would come home on goes PSX and FF7 only stopping for eating and sleeping. FF8 onwards were a bit disappointing and lost its charm a bit.

Dracunos

If you wanted to add that ,then you'd HAVE to add Chrono Trigger, too, so I think we'll just stick away from console RPGs and stick with complaining at the op for no putting morrowind, BG, and Planescape. Yeah, I forgot about morrowind..

How DARE you op, forgetting about morrowind.. Disgusting.

FF7 was on the PC.

You know MMORPGS are businesses in their own right, so when someone is running various servers for people to play on the costs are huge. Which alot of people dont realise.

Again people are saying its boring etc, for some it will be boring to others its a good thing.

Like I hate CS, and to the guy who said "World of Kidscraft"... So is CS in a way, every Online game in any form has kids, you always have annoying people.

And most MMORPG's are designed that it starts quick then takes along time at the end to get anywhere.

1. To keep people playing..

2. To keep you paying...

Dungeons as someone said isnt always that boring, instances are all different, some are easy some are difficult, but either way all need co-ordination between your party mates. Like Karazhan, 10 man raid, unlike Upper Blackrock Spire which was also 10 man, Karazhan is one of the most frustrating and difficult instances ive come across. Took us a few attempts to kill the 1st easiest boss in there Attumen, even longer for Moroes (I hate him grrrr), and we havent even got anywhere else in the place. With 10 floors it will take time and plenty of hard work. Which is what I enjoy, we go in have fun and try to do what we can.

Tell me is it still level 20 the max level cap?

That what annoyed me with GW, sure there was no monthly fee, but boy it was boring once you got to level 20 and you ran the same boring furnace runs etc.

Not to mention the kids and their "OMG you dont have FoW armor noob"... Yeah thats right why spend stupid money on armor that doesnt do better than the current one I had. Kids :P

Like most games, things always start easy and slow.

But as said once you hit the high levels, instances (dungeons for parties of 5 people or more) become challenging and the need to get that rare drop you want becomes more and more addictive.

But its not only that, the element of interacting with others, and of course killing the horde/alliance to win some goodies, and killing hunter bots who are out to get money, is only a small thing you can do in WoW.

The last post I disagree with, WoW is different from other MMORPG's, LOTR:Online is different from WoW although they look similar but vastly different, as is Runescape, as is RF:Online etc. Even different from 9Dragons which is a free MMORPG (Kung Fu one) from Acclaim.

In the end it all depends on your tastes and of course your current patience threshold, if your looking for quick action etc then WoW and others on the RPG side are not for you.
