Saturday, August 9, 2014:

An unarmed 18-year-old Black man named Mike Brown was shot and killed by a White police officer. Brown was a recent high school graduate who was about to start college. Residents of Ferguson react to his death by laying rose petals at the place where his body was found; as night falls, they gather and raise their hands as a symbolic gesture to urge police not to shoot.

The shooting officer claims that Brown tried to take his gun however brown was shot from a distance, reportedly with his hands in the air indicating that if any altercation had occurred then it was over at the time Brown was killed.

August 10:

Many Ferguson residents began protesting while other people starting looting stores in Ferguson. It's been reported that most of these individuals were not from Ferguson, Missouri but from the nearby city of St. Louis.

August 11:

Tactical officers arrive in Ferguson to assist St. Louis County police clear protesters who were marching in front of the Ferguson police station.

August 12:

Police close Ferguson's airspace claiming that shots had been fired at a police helicopter on August 10th. That's 2 days after the incident, not a lot of urgency there.

Civil rights activist Al Sharpton flies to St. Louis to speak at a news conference with civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump and the family of Michael Brown.

August 13:

Police throw tear gas at Al Jazeera TV crew reporting on the demonstrations in Ferguson. After the crew flees the officers dismantle their gear. LINK (with video)

Tensions between police and demonstrators reached a crescendo on the third day of protests as an officer is seen aiming his weapon at a demonstrator protesting the shooting death of Michael Brown.

August 14:

President Obama delivers a statement on the situation in Ferguson, calling for ‘healing’ after several days and nights of police clashing with citizens. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr., also met with Michael Brown’s parents and issued a statement saying he is “deeply concerned that the deployment of military equipment and vehicles sends a conflicting message” to the community of Ferguson.

On the evening of Aug. 13, two journalists (Ryan Reilly of The Huffington Post and Wesley Lowery of The Washington Post) are detained by police in a McDonald’s restaurant in Ferguson. detailed his experience here

August 15:

Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson announces the name of the police officer responsible for the death of Michael Brown. The officer's name is Darren Wilson, a six-year veteran of the department.

Police also issue handout photos to the press of stills from a security camera showing an alleged robbery incident that took place between Michael Brown and a convenient store owner prior to Brown’s shooting death.

August 16:

A week following the Officer involved shooting of teen Michael Brown, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon (D) announced in a press conference on Saturday that he has signed an order declaring a state of emergency and ordering a curfew in Ferguson.

The curfew will last from midnight to 5 a.m., according to Capt. Ronald Johnson of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, who also spoke at the press conference. LINK

Because they need to believe that there is a higher purpose and that life doesn't just end after death.

So they will make it easier enough to appeal to more people but not too easy because they don't want to disappoint the Souls fans. Seems reasonable.
