[QUOTE="Cube_of_MooN"]People get murdered everyday, why is this story so special? A shame, but I can't say anything about this story makes me feel different than another murder.ghoklebutterOf course murder happens all the time. It's just that, at least to some people, this murder is more tragic because it was motivated by bigotry against trans* people. It certainly is sad news for other trans* people because it serves as a grim reminder that transphobia is still a thing. I guess, but to me, a murder is a murder regardless of intent. The reasoning behind it shouldn't matter. yes, transphobia and homophobia exist, and they exist even in much more accepting places like the UK, US, and Canada. I could see how it might bother someone who is trans or is closely involved with that group, but the cynical side of me almost expects things like this to happen in areas of the world that still hold more traditional cultures, for lack of a better term. It's sad, but that's the world for you; it's improving, but has a long way to go.

This joker had a point to make, it was more about a message than goofing around for his own pleasure.  TDK was a more deep film than whatever film Jack Nicholson was in as the joker.  I seem to notice that people who grew up witht he first film of the joker are really ciritcal of Heath Ledger's joker.  I like the in real life version of the Joker (Heath), much darker, more intense, and meaningful.

I grew up with Nicholson's Joker and as far as I'm concerned he can't hold a candle to Ledger's.
ledger simply put is more talented and has had a way more illustrious career than nicholson. his role in brokeback mountain revolutionized the american public's views on homosexualityHe's very good, but to say he had a more illustrious career than Nicholson? Pushing it way too far there.[QUOTE="Cube_of_MooN"]I made it through engineering without resorting to drinking or drugs. I was one of only a few though, lol.foxhound_foxLucky. I have a friend who said that he probably has the liver of a 40 year-old alcoholic now. I'm surprised they (engineers) haven't invented an artificial liver yet. I know plenty of smart guys who graduated with me or the year before me who are probably in the same boat as your friend. The stress just gets to some people and they, like many college students, turn to drinking to resolve it. I just found other ways to deal with the stress I guess.
