@SirReapalot: I know it's 7 years later but I'm playing now and I have the same problem. I was originally with Miranda in ME2 so I worked on the trick where you quietly break up with her to change course of events plus romance someone else but key options never showed up with Liara when they should have. Starting to think I confused the game pursuing both. I didn't even have the key options with Miranda on the 3rd visit to lock her in even if I wanted to so I know the trick worked (among other reasons). So yeah, you're not alone. :-(

The fact that it's that close is sad. I also expected as much (unfortunately).

Not that important.

I feel for you, as I don't like to do it either. However between this game and Assassin's Creed 3 I just kept in mind it's all fake. I think that is a main story quest, isn't it? If so there is no way around it. If it was a path of the hunter than you don't have to do it. Thing is though, to upgrade and craft anything you need animal hides and not ever doing that is going to make things extremely difficult. I'll admit, there was a few path of the hunter quests where you used flamethrowers and those made me really uncomfortable. I didn't even finish those after I did the first one. (had no problems using it on enemies! :-))

I agree. It was a great game but a few minor things really could have made it one of the best ever. I feel the same way about your number 3 as well as I agree about more crafting and customization. It ended up feeling like the pirates were really just pushovers. Them taking back an outpost would have been awesome. Or at least having mini wars going on at the borders between pirates and rakyat (sp?) more than the occasional scuffle when they drive by each other. I also felt like money was WAY too easy to obtain. My wallet was constantly full. Considering the radio towers gave free weapons, it made it harder to really spend faster than I earned the money. Also, on the 2nd island I DID like the "uniform" approach however I felt it shouldn't have been used the entire island. Just the 2nd half to the end would have been good. It started becoming way too easy even on the warrior difficulty.

It's Gianpaolo Venuta. He was in a few recent TV series, the movie The Words and did a voice from a couple of previous AC games as well. That could be why he sounds familiar. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0893464/

The Desmond (modern) part is what I DON'T like about these games. Here you are minding you're own business, climbing buildings, sneaking up on people, assassinating 'bad' guys somewhere in the past and then you are suddenly looking for power supplies in some warehouse in modern times. It totally breaks the experience for me.

Dschadir
The entire point of the series is because of Desmond's story. There can be no experience in the animus without the overall driving story of whats happening modern day. That's part of the beauty of the games. Like others have said, you should really start with Assassins Creed II. You WONT be disappointed. They fixed whatever was seen as wrong in the first, made it better and then added a TON more to make it probably one of the best turnarounds from a developers standpoint. I think it even won an award on here for best comeback or something, didnt it? Regardless, I was a huge fan of the first despite whatever repetitiveness. I didnt mind it at all. But objectively speaking, the 2nd game set the standard for this series. Of course though, following it with Brotherhood and Revelations would be good to go through to keep up with the overall story.

Don't hold the jump button when climbing. Just use the RT (if on xbox) and the directional analog. Holding both together causes him to leap or dive into haystacks. It's one of the control changes to make things easier that takes some getting used to coming from the previous games. After 50 hours of the game I still have a tendency to accidentally hold A like in the past.

Are you protecting the side squads as well? The first time I failed because I didn't realize there was a group to the left and right you have to command as well as the bridge in the middle. If you are, the tip they give you as the mission starts (wait until they stop marching and prepare to shoot) is the best to follow. Wait until the enemy groups raise their guns to and then order your squads to shoot. If the enemy is moving you risk missing taking down the entire enemy group with one volley. Keep riding back and forth attacking the closest marching enemy among the 3 squads. Expect to have multiple groups firing eventually though, so sometimes you may have to quickly ride to one group and immediately order to shoot and run to the other side so just do your best to keep control and you should beat the mission with some men to spare.

Are you doing the homestead missions that show up on your map? You must complete those. They are scattered across both cities and the frontier.
