Hi all, it's my birthday coming up in a couple of months and I want to upgrade my Xbox One X from 2019 to a Xbox Series S or X. I'm aware of the major differences between the S and the X in terms of disc drive and power but I would like some advice on what is the best option.

  1. Should I keep my Xbox One X for disc-based Xbox One games and just use a Series S for new games (costing roughly £229 here in the UK for the 512GB version or the 1TB version which will be £299.99)?
  2. Do I sell my Xbox One X and get a Series X for £479.99 (I would get roughly £75 at my local CeX for my Xbox One X, bringing the cost down to £405)? I have a Gears 5 edition Xbox One X and really like the aesthetic, so am loathe to sell it at this stage.

Do Xbox One games play better on the Series X? Would I really notice the difference in performance between the Series S and Series X on a 4K LG TV bought for £300 in 2019?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

@tronia191: eh, while I liked the original art style and the comic-book mechanic of the original it's not a deal-breaker, I'm more interested in the gameplay and the achievements. I guess I probably should give it a go now it's actually playable.

Just Cause
Gears of War
Mass Effect
Dead Space (not including the remake)
Mercenaries

I think that's it surprisingly!

@nepu7supastar7: I haven't played Duke Nukem Forever, are there still lots of glitches, or have they mostly been ironed out now? Is it worth playing for £12?

I loved the original game back in 2003 and just recently replayed it all over again through GOG.com after hearing dreadful things about the 2020 remake. I have heard that the game switched developers last year and a huge update was added which has supposedly improved the game significantly.

Is the game actually now playable and worth playing for a reduced price if you were a fan of the original in its current state? I'm aware the art style and cutscenes are nowhere near the original, but it's the gameplay I'm more interested in.

@RSM-HQ: that's an interesting statistic, I can only think of a small handful of games I HAVEN'T completed as I usually see games through to the end. As I mentioned I'm a completionist so it wouldn't feel right not seeing it through to the end after putting the effort in at the start.

@RSM-HQ: that is basically what I meant. I usually don't speed-run through games with side-missions and open -worlds like RPGs I usually try and do every quest/mission before completing the final levels, hence why it took me so long to complete The Witcher 1.

So I just completed the first Witcher game, after starting it in May 2014 and putting in almost 54 hours of gameplay it's taken me almost 8 years to complete! Bare in mind, however, I didn't play it often during that period and I tried to complete as many quests as possible.

What's the longest amount of time you've taken to complete a game?

@Comic_Capers: Update: I tried plugging it into different sockets around the house and the issue is still happening. I also have 40 critical events in my event viewer, source "Kernel-Power". Now what else could I try?

@gerygo: that could be the issue. This morning when I tried booting up the computer it restarted after about 5 mins, just idle on the desktop and when it restarted it did so again three times until I got the "Windows has failed to start" window. This has now happened multiple times. I now have it plugged in to a socket downstairs in my lounge connected to my TV and I will see if I have the same issues when plugged into a different power socket.
