I don't think I'm going to buy the DSi but you're really grasping for things to downplay against it. I don't see how a bigger size or a lack of colour choices makes it a negative. It takes little to no effort to go find a new skin for any of the things you own. Taking out a GBA slot is a negative but it's definitely nothing to cry over. The only realy negative that I can see is the reduced battery life which should definitley be fixed. Nintendo did however throw in a SD slot, pictures, music, bigger screen, bigger sylus and best of all, a download service.

exactly...this man sees the light...and i don't mean the DS lite neither...lmao he totally has the right idea

Exactly. It's just unfortunate that some gamers will take things like this to the nth degree until they have converted everyone to not buy what is a natural evolution for said platform.

LMAO JUST REALISED THAT THIS NEW DSI IS JUST TAT!, Nintendo is just digging money off you consumers can you not see...

This all started with the Nintendo Gameboy Advance it went from that too the Nintendo SP then the Nintendo Micro all these with no real new features they are all just gimmicks they all play the same format games with no exclusives as i am aware off.

Then they bring out the very first Nintendo DS commonly called the Nintendo DS Phat then comes the Nintendo DS Lite now soon the Nintendo DSi will come out the PSP is doing the same thing the Xbox 360 also has with the Elite and other special addition ones like Halo, you don't need theese there just gimmicks you can buy a seprate big 120gb hard drive for your xbox 360 seriously guys.

In my experiences most Nintendo DS games can be played without the touch screen been used it is mainly just a gimmick.

Seriously im thinking im just growing out of games or does anyone else see what i mean.

End of my Nintendo DSi Rant.

Wait, what about the Game Boy and the Game Boy Pocket? Wasn't the Pocket a release of the same hardware but in a smaller, sleeker package? Perhaps you missed that one out. Either way, I'm all for the DSi and I will most definitely picking one up upon launch.

Yes, that's right. I said downgrade.

The DSi's improvements over the DS are the following: slightly larger screen (0.25''); slightly thinner (2.6mm); slightly lighter (4g); slightly longer stylus (4.5mm); slightly faster charging time (30 min) . As for added features, the DSi has an SD card slot, a 3MP camera on the outside and 0.3 MP camera on the inside, music playback, and one more brightness setting.

But here's a list of all the features that have been downgraded, worsened, or removed:

• bigger (DS: 133 x 73.9 vs. DSi: 137 x 74.9 mm)

• shorter battery life (On minimum brightness, DS: 15-19 hr vs DSi: 9-14 hr.) In fact, on max and high brightness, the DS's battery life is about TWO TIMES longer than the DSi's battery life

• No GBA slot, therefore, no backwards compatibility with GBA games, rumble pak, or Guitar Hero

• fewer colour choices

Maybe you say the online store might be good. Well, that's a hypothetical and is entirely dependent on whether the DS games available for purchase are any good. To find out if they are any good, you'd need to adopt a wait-and-see attitude, so why the "omg must buy" reactions?

What's so great about a DS with a 0.3 megapixel camera (when phones now have 3 MP cameras) and music playback (when MP3 players are extremely cheap and widespread) with no GBA slot, that's clunkier and has worse battery life?

Enjoy your slightly larger screen and slightly longer stylus and have fun taking pictures with your poor quality camera on your clunkier, generic white/black DSi. I'll be taking high-res pics with my Canon, listening to music on my iPod, and playing awesome GBA and DS games on my light blue DS. And I'll be playing them for longer than you!

This has happened every single time Nintendo has revised its handhelds. There will always be people who will put up a fight to defend the current handheld against the upcoming handheld. I remember the time when people condemned the GBA SP as being a "waste" of money and people condemning the SP simply because it didn't have a replaceable battery and that the backlit screen feature would ruin the system's battery life.

Fast-forward to today, and here we have the Nintendo DS Lite being defended against the upcoming Nintendo DSi. I'm not going to go down the route of commenting on everything you've said, however, I will say that I am a firm supporter of the DSi and the new features it's going to bring to the portable gaming scene. I personally cannot wait for the DSi to launch here in Europe!

I prefer to purchase online as I have always found the prices to be cheaper. I seldom buy in-store because most places just love to over-charge. :)
