Kratos from God of War.
He went from a man fueled by revenge for being tricked into murdering his family to almost not caring at all and killing everyone or anything that was wronging him, despite the fact that he broke the agreement he had with the God's by trying to make himself stronger and backing Sparta in their wars. Then there's the puzzle's where the only solution is to kill somebody even though he could easily destroy some of the obstacles with his bare hands at these points.
The one likable thing I had about him is that he was at least up front about his motivation.

The God's themselves aren't very likable but at least they are no where near what they were in the myths.
Like the Medusa myth, it's been awhile but it was pretty much Aphrodite turning her into a Gorgon just cause someone mentioned Medusa being beautiful in Aphrodite's temple.

Beat event 50 with Ganondorf, figured I might as well use the heaviest and almost strongest character.

Tried to beat event 51 with Jigglypuff cause of the rest trick, didn't really work so I went with Pikachu since I'm a lot more accustomed to him.

The last levels in the side-scrolling Mega Man games would almost ruin them for me. Most of them seemed like the designer had a spike fetish.

[QUOTE="Chaos1031"]I remember when games were cartridges in boxes inside a case... in a display case. Epoq

What? Display case?

I just realized that was kinda redundant since their still in those display cases. Only they don't have those holes in the display so you could look at the back of a game, where you could see the screenshots and know what your somewhat getting. They were mainly at the Target and K-mart like stores though.

I think since basic necessities like food has gone up, that $50-60 for a game is a lot more noticable than it used to be.
I don't remember exactly but I read something that said if gas had inflated at a rate like milk* did, it would actually be around $10 a gallon.
* I'm not sure if it was milk or vegetable oil, it was something that most households buy.

So far games seem to be one of the few things that haven't inflated.

I don't think it is going to completely die, people are still buying music CD's even though they can download them. If anything they will probably do what some music and movies are doing and come with a digital copy or something.
Given some of the things some companies have done with downloads I'm not looking forward to downloading as the only way. Like the guy who downloaded a movie and was charged by bytes as opposed to duration, and he ended up with a $60,000 bill.

I'm pretty sure at some point we will look back and say 'wow remember buying video games in actual cases with a disc inside? hahahaha'PetJel

I remember when games were cartridges in boxes inside a case... in a display case. I still actually remember when console games were floppy discs.
Hell, I remember when Gameboy's could kill a man.
I'm only 23, and I already feel old.:(

1. Slimline or Fat? I am looking for good reliablity so I don't care which model, just the one with the best.

2. Is the PS2 completely backward compatible with the PS1? That would be a major buying point since I never had one.

3. Online free or do you have to pay? So is it like Xbox Live or the Whole Nintendo free thing?

4. Are the Graphics that bad on the PS2? Like I own a Gamecube, Xbox and Wii so will I see major difference between them? I heard the PS2 was the least powerfull of the last gen consoles so that is why I am asking.

5. Anything else major I should know?

Thanks For Any Help

TheColbert

1. Most people are going to say the Slim since they supposedly have less moving parts to wear out. Slims have what may be a rumor that they overheat since their more compact.
I still have my fat one from 05, it hasn't given me any problems. I never actually did any maintenance stuff for it either like cleaning it until a couple of years ago, and that was just cause I had some free time.

2. It's not completely BC, but no actual system with BC really is. The are some lists that people have put together in FAQS about what games they and others have had trouble playing.

3. Online is free, except for the games that have an actual fee like Final Fantasy XI and Phantasy Star Universe. The slim has a built in network adapter so all you really need is a cable and your good to go. With the fat you'll have to hunt around for one.

4. Graphics just depend on the games. There are some games that look like they should be on the Xbox or GC, like the God of War's, Devil May Cry's and Silent Hill's. Most multiplatform games released now are like a Beta Wii version without motion controls and muddier graphics. I know it got the short end of the stick before but it seems developers felt they could make it shorter.

5. Other than the fat PS2 needing a network adapter to go online. The laser on the PS2 can wear down where it can't read the CD type games, but any device that uses a laser for reading is going to suffer from that. Some say it is caused by using it as a DVD player, which is debated since most games are on DVD's as well.

That's what Dragonball Online essentially is. They set it about 200 years after Z, you can make a human, Namekian or Majin, and choose their type fighter, support or inventor. From what I've heard inventor is basically the weapon users. Supposedly there are missions that have Trunks take you through time to fight against Frieza, Cell and Buu.

Considering that Bleach's and Naruto's creators were inspired by DB they will probably do something similar at some point.

[QUOTE="Dire_Weasel"]

...don't bother with pre-orders, especially from some shady company (gamestop) that actually charges you money to do it.

Skylock00

You don't pay any more for the game than you would normally, so I'd hardly call it a 'charge.' At the very least, I view it as putting money down to indicate how serious you are about making the purchase of the game later on. In fact, MOST companies have you paying some form of money when you place a pre-order, with the only possible exception being Amazon, if they hold off on charging you until they ship the title.

That $5 charge is taken from that games full price when you pick it up anyways. It still costs about $60, but you only need $55 when it arrives.

The one good thing about pre-orders is that most stores will honor it's original price where if it goes up you still pay the original price, and if it goes down you pay that new price with the pre-order charge still applied.

In game pre-order bonuses are starting to get ridiculous. Modern Warfare 2 for example you only get those vehicles if you win the contest, but the only way to enter the contest is to pre-order it.
That's why if I do pre-order something for a bonus it will only be for something I can actually have in the real world. If I don't pre-order I could still find those bonuses in a vintage/comic shop, where as in game items will probably never actually be released for the non pre-order community.

I not a fan of it, but Doctor Who could make a fun game.

The only other ones that I can think of that would make interesting games are Primeval and Tremors.
The BBC Primeval series not that movie about the serial killer Gustave who was actually a crocodile.
