Tomb Raider: Legend is the one that rejuvenated the series, besides being a success sale wise. Lucianu
That's actually the game where they lost me. Boring, lame, tired. Underworld was no better.

I actually prefer random battles and turn based combat on the whole still. The new system gives you the illusion of a choice of whether or not to fight, but you still need X level to win in most areas, so you have to go find enemies and grind. If that's going to be the case, if I'm going to HAVE to fight X number of bad guys per area, MAKE me fight them. Don't trick me into thinking it's an option.

Well if they'd made Hitman and Tomb Raider as good as the previous games, things might have worked out better.MonoSilver
Hitman is receiving wide praise, and the new Tomb Raider is infinitely better than the last few tired entries in the "old" TR series. Lara WAS where Nathan Drake is NOW, tired and used up.

Perhaps Squeenix are making bad losses elsewhere which forces them to hope games will sell 7m copies to justify what they are spending / wasting elsewhere?Avenger1324
Anything actually made by SE, not just Eidos games published by them has been sucking the big one the last few years. The horrible long time in development for FF13, mediocre sales of the ill advised sequel no one wanted, (and the impending release of the third and final game that no one wanted) the abortion of FF14, it's costly rebuilding, time and resources wasted on Versus 13, the large batch of mediocre/forgetful JRPG games they published at the start of the gen, (Last Remnant, Infinite Undiscovery, that new Star Ocean game) etc. The one game from their Japanese side anyone really looks forward to very much this year is a remaster of an existing game, FFX. If it wasn't for the stable of Eidos games they picked up when they acquired that company, this gen would have been a complete disaster for them, as is, it's just a "normal" disaster. Square-Enix may as well have not even showed up this gen.

They wouldn't need these games to reach such silly big numbers if they weren't trying to make up for the massive losses of the Japanese efforts of Square-Enix.

Hopefully the FFX-2 Remaster fixes that absurd 100% completion scheme. It was made in such a way that buying the strategy guide was virtually required to get the best ending, which is likely the ending you bought the game to get if you liked FFX enough to buy FFX-2 at all. It was a super assy move by SE, and I hope they rectify it.

Now maybe it's because I don't play online at all ever, (the online is built around griefing, which I find repulsive, that and all online competitive gaming is always riddled with people cheating by abusing glitches or lag) and have the original version of the game totally unpatched, but the baby skeletons outside Nito's tomb are a far, far, far better area to farm humanity. I can get 40 of them in as little as fifteen minutes, it's just silly. Unfortunately by not being patched at all I think I'm missing out on something, the Wikia says the Giant Blacksmith sells Twinkling Titanite for 8k souls a piece, and on my game, he sells no titanite at all. Oh well. I may have to get patched at least, soon.

Sounds like if you don't use the multiplayer it's woefully short yet enjoyable, making it a $19 purchase.

Ico had terrible controls, just like SotC, Dark Souls controls aren't perfect, but a far sight better than Team Ico's games. So no, Ico isn't something I think about when playing Dark Souls. Ico is something I think about when taking a crap, because that reminds me of what playing Ico was like.
