"You ever think about dialling down the cursing Wash?" "XXXX THAT!" One of G and Isaac Washington's, uh, less profanity-laden exchanges in House of the Dead:Overkill, occurring at the end of the game when ever other word out of Washington's mouth has been an F-bomb. Not the most badass quote ever, I daresay, but it puts a smile on my face.

[QUOTE="Business_Fun"]The demo for Clive Barker's Jericho was a major reason I bought it. Good thing that the game turned out to be a lot of fun too.LongZhiZi
Really? I was...less than impressed, partly because you could switch between characters (which made me never get attached to playing as any one). Is the game actually good?

I thought it was a good game. All the characters had well-defined powers (some more useful than others!) which made for some varied and hectic firefights, and they had lots of personality too.

I'll go with this one too. I'd finally put paid to Kuja, thought I had the game in the bag - and then this...creature pops up. Needless to say he spanked me severely, and I was so downhearted at the prospect of slogging all the way to him again that I never did get around to finishing the game.

The firstborn in Clive Barker's Jericho comes to mind. It's supposed to be the ultimate being, God's first mistake, and yet the solution to killing him is so formulaic and disappointing. Silent-Hal
Seconded. The game had been great up until then, and then you found it, the prehistoric root of all evil - and then nothing. And I don't think we're going to see that ending resolved anytime soon either...

Willi it be like the restaurant scene in Mrs Doubtfire, with you constantly rushing into the bathroom every few minutes to change clothes before dashing off to spend a little time with each girl? Make sure they don't get suspicious now! You may want to give the padded bodysuit a miss, however.

Do you know what? Despite its flaws, I really liked this game. I found its combat to be moreish and satisfying, and I liked the way your choice of class really affected how you had to play the game. I also got the same impression playing it that I got from Halo and Gears of War - that behind the adventure you were playing through on the screen was a huge, rich, vibrant universe with its own mythology and history stretching back to God knows when. As I ploughed through the bad guys, the music swelling and the cries of my comrades filling the air, it sometimes felt like I was playing an 8 out of 10 game - and then it go and shoot itself in the foot (dodgy animation, poorly-realised cut scenes, controls which suddenly went kablooey) and I would be left astounded that Silicon Knights left it as it was. So yes - a diamond in the rough, and although I doubt we'll hear anything soon, I really hope that we see the next installment in the trilogy.

I would have to say my displeasure is reserved for Dom. With the right weapons and some canny item management Sheva turns out to be a valuable ally. Dom, on the other hand - honestly, it's like going to war with Laurel and Hardy.
