The 'special events' in Fallout and Fallout 2 were great. They normally gave you some great items, but most of all, they were hilarious.

I guess there really isn't anything confirmed that I want to see, but I'd love to see a few things take hold on PC's. First is dual-core graphics cards. If Intel's new Core 2 Extreme can run so cool, and dual-core tech has been around for over a year, why not? Quad SLI on current-gen mobos, or an SLI card for AGP mobos? Second isn't so much new tech, but just progress in general. PC's need physics accelerators to get on the same page. We can't have 3 ways to compute gravity guns, it's hard enough to choose between ATI and nVidia GPU's and AMD or Intel CPU's. Third is kind of the same thing as before, I'd love to see SATA optical drives become the norm in new PC's. Hell, most new mobos have at least 4 SATA ports, if not 7 or 8. I guess that's all I can hope for right now.

I was recently surprised that my laptop with crappy Intel integrated graphics ran Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich. It's only got a little over a 1Ghz Celeron, but it does have 512Mb RAM, which gives it a big boost. Also RPG's worth playing are Diablo 2 and Exp., and all of the previously mentioned old RPG's (Fallout, Planescape, etc), but I also played Arcanum on that same laptop with no issues at all. A good shooter would be Deus Ex, and maybe Deus Ex: Invisible War, along with Half-Life (obviously), and if you're really looking for something easy to run, Quake II or Unreal are good too. Sim games generally run well on old machines, and I really like Sim Golf, so check that one out too!

I think that most would agree that these games only make you cool to other gamers, not everyone else. That said, my five 'coolest' games are: 1) Half-Life, with Opposing Force(for 1) and Episode One(for 2). The best series in gaming. Ever. 2) Fallout, both 1 & 2. The finest RPG's (not including Action/RPGs) 3) Halo, also 1 & 2. King of Xbox, but you have to be good for it to count. 4) Duck Hunt, with your old NES system. People know you're for real now. 5) Steel Battalion. I never had this game, obviously for the price of the controller. But you can't deny the coolness that comes with a huge console of controls for your Mech.
