It's loosing to Final Fantasy X!

Predicting Gamespot's nominees for game of the year can be quite tricky for some so I thought get crack at it.

First lets take all of the 9.5's and 10's

Red Dead Redemption 9.5

Super Mario Galaxy 2 10.0

StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty 9.5

Halo Reach 9.5

Super Meat Boy 9.5

Now lets look at there top 10 games in their holiday buyers guide

As you can see they excluded super meat boy most likely because it's downloadable. This of course does not stop it from being a nominee for Goty.

Anyway those other games that I haven't listed are:

Fifa 11

Civilization V

NHL 11

MGS: Peace Walker

Super Street Fighter 4

God of War 3

This of course as I said before does not include downloadable so Limbo or Pacman CE DX in which both received a 9 could also get a nomination rather then one of these.

So with that being said here is the games that have the best chance of getting nominated so far:

God of War 3 9.0

Super Street Fighter 4 9.0

Red Dead Redemption 9.5

Super Mario Galaxy 2 10.0

MGS: Peace Walker 9.0

Limbo 9.0

StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty 9.5

NHL 11 9.0

Halo Reach 9.5

Civilization V 9.0

Fifa 11 9.0

Super Meat Boy 9.5

Pacman CE DX 9.0

However things can and do change. For instance some years they nominated games that get 8.5 over games that get 9.0's or even 9.5's.

And then there is one particular 9.0 that is quite critically acclaimed and the second highest rated game of the year...

That's Mass Effect 2.

So if you add that in, that means now there is 14 games.

Also in theory the 5 games in which the characters on the front of the Best of 2010 section come from will all get nominated. This includes GOW 3, RDR, SC2:WoL, Halo Reach and Kirby's Epic Yarn.

So that means Kirby's Epic Yarn (which only got an 8.5) has a good chance.

So here is the final list:

Mass Effect 2 9.0

God of War 3 9.0

Super Street Fighter 4 9.0

Red Dead Redemption 9.5

Super Mario Galaxy 2 10.0

MGS: Peace Walker 9.0

Limbo 9.0

StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty 9.5

Kirby's Epic Yarn 8.5

This means these 15 titles have the best chance of getting nominated for Game of the year, however only 10 will make it.

So what I have done here has hopfully made it easier for other people predicting what will be nominated for game of the year.
