Which virus do I choose? It won't let me continue the survey unless I choose either a Trojan or Browser Hijacker?

@jun_aka_pekto: Okay then. I'm still interested and awaiting the pinnacle of the current gen games in the present. Not to go off topic but I really hope there is a breakthrough with Graphene, quantum computing, etc because after hitting the processor power wall limit, Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and other consumer electronic entities are focusing on power consumption. So you're right, the next gen may or may not be recognizable.

I see that the issue is the Far Future (over 5 years or so) which as you mention has a great uncertainty due to the potential unknown disruptive technology. Believe me, I'm not leaving my PS4 in a corner because I'm speculating it's successor.

So I guess I'll wait until the launch of the PS5 and start talking about the PS6 :p

Seeing that Naughty Dog is re-releasing the Last of Us for the PS4 (I never played the game yet) I don't see why Rockstar won't do the same with GTA 5.

But seeing how the leaps between the last gen and current gen consoles, I bet the differences will only be 1080p @ 60 fps and a little lighting here and there. All speculation.

@jun_aka_pekto: You said "Who gives a shit what the future holds?"

I guess you're okay with halting any technological progress.

There is no panicking. I am merely interested in what the future holds for gaming hardware and software. I am not implying that I am underwhelmed or losing patience in this generation of consoles. It's my personality that I am intrigued by the responses of intelligent gamers, developers, etc.

You must fear the future personally. That's a lazy attitude. And this isn't economics, I have no questions about the stock market. I guess you'd rather have the masses of people just not care about anything in the future.

Whether you disagree or not, somebody speculated about the future decades ago and started this whole video game console legacy.

@DuaIFace: Thanks for the reply DualFace an to all the others as well. Looks like all of my question were answered. Thank you.

I also hope HVD "Holographic Versatile Disc" become feasible because they hold over 1 Terabyte of data. Might be too much.

@loafofgame: Both you and DualFace make a lot of sense. Focusing on now can and is important also. By focusing on the present, games and content can be mastered by developers. I'm just really excited about the possible future. See, I'm 25 and gamed my whole life and can see myself doing for for the entirety of my life provided I don't go blind or debilitated.

Don't get me wrong, I like the next gen consoles (PS4,Xbox One). You see, I have a GTX 780 gaming PC build and I don't speculate too much on that because I know PCs evolve constantly.

This console gen just makes me very intrigued about the future.

By the way, is 128gb of ram feasible for the PS5 and Xbox One. It follows the 16 times increase with each gen.

@donalbane: I know the "exact" specs are uncertain, but so far, Sony has followed a linear technological roadmap for their Playstations.

The PS1 had 2mb of ram

The PS2 had 32mb of ram

The PS3 had 512mb of ram (Split 256mb system and 256mb video)

The PS4 has 8gb of Gddr5 ram

Essentially, 16 times more ram with each generation roughly.

If this same roadmap continues, maybe the PS5 will have 128gb of ram. Many people say this is a ridiculous amount of ram and somewhere between 16gb and 32bg is realistic.

Doing a quick Google search, I found the PS4 GPU is said to be 4.5 times more powerful than the PS3.

The PS3 is said to be equivalent to a Nvidia 7800 while a PS2 is like that of a Geforce 2.

I know you must think I'm wasting my time over thinking this but I have Killzone Shadow Fall, Infamous Second Son, COD Ghosts, and BF4 on my PS4 and I assure you that I intend to keep my PS4.

I've been to other websites and asked serious questions about the PS4/ Xbox One way back in 2006-2010 and the response was the same, "It's too soon to talk about the PS4/PS5/Xbox." "Stop imagining the future." "Mods, please close the thread, this guy is thinking about the future."

I'm somewhat of a futurist and I enjoy the PS4 and Xbox One but what is with the panic over speculating. I saw a posts about the PS5 and Xbox One (2?) and the topic descended into mayhem. Is there a fear of influencing the public masses and cause them to lose interest in the PS4/Xbox One? Obviously speculation of technology is the reason the PS4/Xbox One and other hardware technology came into fruition.

Or maybe I'm just creating a moot thread destined to be locked or deleted.

@kuu2: Is it wrong to be curious as you are Kuu2? You just want solid evidence with pics right? That's the problem, the less you know about the PS4 or Xbox One, the more likely you'll buy it hoping to be surprised.

Ignorance of the mass is power.

1.3 T/FLOPS?

Isn't the Xbox One close to those specs while the PS4 is 1.8 T/FLOPS. My argument is that the next gen consoles are on paper, twice as powerful in the pixel fill rate as the 8800 Ultra which back in 2006 was the equivalent of the GTX Titan.

But why do the games look better than the expected twice as powerful 8800 Ultra, though realistically they are more like 3 times as powerful thanks to new architecture. I don't want to sound like I'm talking out of my ass so I'll leave it to you experts.
