[QUOTE="BlackdogGT"]Your company should be ashamed, Skylock. Rumors such as these tend to be true. It's outrageous, and hopefully GS feels the effect in a loss of traffic because of it.Skylock00

What do you mean 'my' company?

I don't work directly for Gamespot or CNet other than being a community moderator. I have no control or say over /anything/ with the company, and I'm not even a paid employee or anything.

Apologies to you then, Sky. I rarely visit the forums here, so I'm not up to speed on the roles of the moderators and their ties to Gamespot. My opinion remains, though. Don't take my post as a flame directed at you or an attempt to garner attention. I've read up on the story via 1up and Kotaku, though I visit this site on a regular and daily basis. I trust(ed) this site, subscribe to the Hotspot poscast, and generally enjoy all of the content. But the negatives of this issue greatly outweigh the positives. And that's why I'm done with CNET based websites. Shame, really.

Much like the current of modern media; creativity and honesty has taken a back seat in favor of profit. If the Gerstmann rumors are true, the responsible executives at Eidos and CNET should be removed themselves for flooding enthusiast press with dishonesty and atrocious standards and practices. I realize this thread will be locked. I'm not coming back to view whether or not there will be any following posts. I'm not coming back to this site at all.

Excellent, excellent change of pace. I love the concept. I'm also glad that Splinter Cell is treated with such respect, as I feel like it's still an underrated franchise. Thanks, Ubi!

You're not alone in your Lost Planet love, dude. Those of us who enjoyed the hell out of the single player campaign found even more meat in the multiplayer. I've been playing LP nonstop since January. Like any game, it's a matter of personal opinion. I absolutely adore Lost Planet.

Wow. How eerie. I'd been thinking the exact same thing during my commute to work last week. Obviously, there IS still a crowd that has fond memories of what was a classic in Guardian Heroes. I bought a Saturn (used, and long after it had been cancelled..) specifically for Guardian Heroes. Oddly enough, I never beat the game.
I'd drop the cash on an XBLA conversion without a second thought. Hopefully, this will be a prospect somewhere down the pipe.

Indeed, it's all a matter of taste. Personally, if I were in this situation, I'd simply buy both. They're completely different experiences, and they're both fantastic games. That's pretty much my criteria for a library-worthy title. Despite having an absolute blast through and through with Gears, I HAVE to give the multiplayer championship belt to Lost Planet. I don't think I've ever been as addicted to a multiplayer experience since subscribing to Xbox Live. Halo 2 is undeniably brilliant, and Gears is fun, but Lost Planet reminds me of when I was young. If you've ever played war in your backyard with your friends, you'll understand my comparison. The majority of the maps are creative and robust, the weapons are fairly balanced (with the exception of the homing laser..), I like the characters and the skins, and most of all, the leveling system. The leveling system is what separates Lost Planet from Gears, and completely pulled me away from the deathmatch aspects. It drives you to excel. You WANT to reach those hallmark levels for the new characters and skins. And despite the fact that LP's deathmatch is weak, team deathmatch is some of the most fun I've ever had with other people online. There's simply too much of a difference between Gears and LP's single player campaign to judge one over the other. But for my online time, Lost Planet is head and shoulders above Gears.
